About this listen

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME. OR IS THERE?

After an 'incident' one wet Friday night where he is found walking naked through the streets of Cambridge, Professor Andrew Martin is not feeling quite himself. Food sickens him. Clothes confound him. Even his loving wife and teenage son are repulsive to him. He feels lost amongst an alien species and hates everyone on the planet. Everyone, that is, except Newton, and he's a dog. Who is he really? And what could make someone change their mind about the human race . . . ?

Preferred The Midnight Library

I downloaded this book after finishing the Midnight Library so had high expectations for this book. It was humorous in parts but half way through I knew that this wasn’t really my cup of tea. I do however enjoy looking at life through Matt Haig’s perspective. If only more humans did.

Beautiful, funny and relatable

This book exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed it from start to finish. (Except for that f*****g one f*****g chapter that f*****g never f*****g ended.. I skipped that one at about "nr. 42". Do yourself a favor and skip it after "nr. 7")

I was absolutely entranced from the very first minute and it kept going really stronly until the last third of the book where it became a little more fumbling and had a hard time landing. I'm left a little bit dissapointed after such a strong start, but I still really enjoyd the book and would recommend it to others. Give it a listen.

The narration is absolutely fantastic!

Loved it!

Loved it! Started out as a nerdy sci-fi giggle reminiscent of hitchhikers guide, but turned into something more sensitive an genuinely touching. Choked me up towards the end

This is my new favourite book.

I'm not joking when I say this book made me realise the value of my life. It made me think about all the little things I take for granted. It made me remember all the small acts my boyfriend would do that makes it clear he loves me. Things like offer me a hug when I'm sad or bring me chocolate when I'm on my period. Those things that you don't think twice about but show they really care.

I've been struggling with mental illness most of my life and this books really put things into perspective for me. I'm not saying it's a magical cure that rid me of all my ales, but it made me think that maybe living isn't so bad after all and given the fact my existence is so miraculous It would be a shame to throw it away. Those small fleeting moments of love and happiness might be worth all the suffering and pain. I was recommending this book to everyone before I was even half way through.

Weird but captivating

An alien becomes human. Or was it human all along? I nearly gave up with this one couple of times because of the monotony of the lives described. I’m glad I finished it though. I think we all learned something.

A Great listen

I am a big Matt Haig fan, so the Humans was a hit for me; not the sort of book I would normally pick up, but with his mental health credentials, it was always going to be entertaining and relevant- it did not disappoint
