About this listen

From the breakthrough international best-selling author of The Girl in the Ice, a breathtaking novel about a disgraced female detective's fight for redemption. And survival.

Kate Marshall was a promising young police detective when she caught the notorious Nine Elms serial killer. But her greatest victory suddenly became a nightmare.

15 years after those catastrophic, career-ending events, a copycat killer has taken up the Nine Elms mantle, continuing the ghastly work of his idol.

Enlisting her brilliant research assistant, Tristan Harper, Kate draws on her prodigious and long-neglected skills as an investigator to catch a new monster. But there's much more than her reputation on the line: Kate was the original killer's intended fifth victim...and his successor means to finish the job.

Another Great book!

I could not stop listening to this book. A great thriller with interesting characters and the story kept you engrossed right to the end. The narration was also superb and she brought all the characters to life.

Thought it might be a bit cliched based on the first few chapters but lots of unexpected bits so enjoyed

Could not stop listening

wow wow wow!! I could leave my review there.

From the very first chapter I was hooked. I could not stop listening and found myself sitting in my car to finish a chapter only to start the next and see my family looking out the window wondering what I'm doing.

The author cleverly starts with shock tactics, introducing you to one of two serial killers (Mr Bryndza how you spoil us.) he entices you in and keeps you hanging by a thread. There is a clear and strong plot and you know the outline but the details are gripping, by the end I still wanted more.

The characters are well written and oh my I loved to get to know them, even the serial killers and the serial killers mum. Each one had their place, seamlessly entwined with one another giving the reader a reason to turn page after page.

The narrator is fantastic at dramatising the different characters and is so easy to listen to. Each character is different and even with slight changes you get to know the individual.

An author I will be adding to my 'must read' list.

Fast and furious thriller.

Kate and Tristram search for the remains of a girl missing for twenty years. She’s an ex police detective and he’s her young researcher. So starts this exciting fast paced thriller. With serial killers, sexual abusers, and psychopaths galore. I feel sure that dramatic licence has been taken with certain police procedures to allow the passage of information, but if you suspend disbelief you can enjoy a tightly plotted and exciting story. I certainly can for a Robert Bryndza book and a dramatic presentation byKristen Atherton.
