No Slade = No Oasis. It’s as devastating and as simple as that. Noel Gallagher Slade’s music and style dominated and defined the 1970s. With six consecutive number one singles, they were the UK’s number one group and sold millions of records all over the world. At their peak, Slade enjoyed success and adulation not seen since The Beatles.

I've had this in my wish list for about 2 years it feels like. I decided to give it a go and i'm thrilled I did. What a joy, a truly fabulous bio very different from anything else I've listended to. Dave no doubt had issues after his stoke as occasionally some words are mis pronounced and slurred BUT that makes it all the more authentic , real and heart warming.
Dave laughs at himself often, chuckling away after referencing some aspect of his mishaps, peopke he's met along the way and Slades life in music. It really does make such a positive difference to the listening experience.
You just feel its the two of you and he's recounting yarns laughing away as if he doesn't have a care in the world. Just glad to be alive, proud of his music and enjoying life.
What a brilliant bloke, As a 70's kid I heard plenty of Glam Rock, though my scene was more heavy metal such as Led Zep, Sabbath and ACDC. But that said I had a few of the glam rock in my collection and Slade were always up there with T-Rex etc.
Will anyone ever forget their Xmas Classic? It's always the go to every December isn't it.
Dave Hill is a down to earth, working class lad from the midlands who took a chance and went for it. Not everything worked but alongside Noddy Holder and the lads they made it and created some real bangers, classic tunes for the ages.
A brilliant bio, loved it. Great bloke.

Story
To the wider world, Al Pacino exploded onto the scene like a supernova. He landed his first leading role, in The Panic in Needle Park, in 1971, and by 1975, he had starred in four movies—The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon—that were not just successes but landmarks in the history of film. Those performances became legendary and changed his life forever. Not since Marlon Brando and James Dean in the late 1950s had an actor landed in the culture with such force.

A fantastic bio from arguably one of the greatest actors of all time. Yet Als narration was so chilled out, relaxed and soft you felt like it was just you and him sat chatting together. Incredible life, a real joy to listen to…all I need now is Morgan Freeman to write and narrate his bio…real soon
Al Pacino is a brilliant actor and have us a brilliant bio.

Why is every film or tv programme a sequel or a remake? Why are people so f***ing hung up about swearing? Why do the asterisks in that sentence make it okay? Why do so many people want to stop other people doing things, and how can they be stopped from stopping them? These and many other questions trouble David Mitchell. Join him on a tour of the absurdities of modern life - from Ryanair to Richard III, Downton Abbey to phone etiquette, UKIP to hot dogs made of cats.

Story
David Mitchell’s 2014 best seller Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse must really have made people think - because everything’s got worse. We’ve gone from UKIP surge to Brexit shambles, from horsemeat in lasagne to Donald Trump in the White House, from Woolworths going under to all the other shops going under. It’s probably socially irresponsible even to try to cheer up.

I’ve actually written books before. Seven, if I’m blowing my own trumpet. But never about me, Leigh Francis. Not many people know the real me. They know Keith Lemon, Avid Merrion, The Bear, but this book is all about who I am, out of character, totally honest, just being me. There’s going to be some sad bits, but hopefully there’ll be more happy bits that’ll put a smile on your face a few times. It’s everything I can remember up to the present day.

A fabulous bio and great fun to listen to. A working class lad done good always hits the spot and whats clear is that underneath the funny inventive TV characters is definitely a bloody nice bloke and family man.

In Francis Rossi's explosive new memoir, I Talk Too Much, the Status Quo main man reveals for the first time the true-life stories behind the life and times of one of the best-selling rock singers in the world. With over 100 million records sold worldwide in a career that mirrors the evolution of rock music, from the flower power '60s, with hits like 'Pictures of Matchstick Men', through the denim-clad '70s and classic Quo-tastic anthems such as 'Down Down', 'Rocking All over the World' and 'Whatever You Want', through the turbulent '80s, when they famously opened Live Aid....

Whilst not one of my favourites it’s definitely worth listening to.

David Bowie is a legend and Suzi recounts her time with him on tour beautifully. For me the best aspect was Suzi is so down to earth. One of us you might say and so it added to the mystery of what it would have been like to be plucked from obscurity and an ordinary life to join the rock stars and see the world close to the stage. Fantastic story told superbly.

While James Blunt's crimes against music are well-documented, he also has some stories that are not. In Loosely Based On A Made-Up Story, James reveals his most riotous anecdotes to date for your amusement - and his parents' horror - in this highly anticipated non-memoir. From his questionable Norfolk roots, eccentric family, boarding school antics, misjudged military service, rise to music stardom and tour escapades, James delves into his (surprisingly) fascinating life to date.

Marmite man writes a book…ish
Reviewed: 21-03-24
I don’t mind James Blunt if not his music, he was brilliant and engaging on his Top Gear episode back in the day. However, considering the full 5 * reviews I thought this must be a decent book.
It was dull to begin with and bored me, but once he got into his military career it became great. Then dribbled aimlessly into more titbits of what? Only James would know. The title is a bit of a giveaway as to whether JC is having us all on - but my guess is this manchild is firmly at home with the khaki greens and stripes on but seems to be utterly irrelevant in the real world as his stories showed.
The undisputed marmite man he will always be. Worth a punt just skip past much ado about nothingness that is random if common in this.
