Story
Maud is an irascible 88-year-old Swedish woman with no family, no friends, and...no qualms about a little murder. Ever since her darling father's untimely death when she was only 18, Maud has lived in the family's spacious apartment in downtown Gothenburg rent-free, thanks to a minor clause in a hastily negotiated contract. That was how Maud learned that good things can come from tragedy. Now in her late 80s, Maud contents herself with traveling the world and surfing the net from the comfort of her father's ancient armchair. It's a solitary existence, and she likes it that way.

This is a brilliant, engaging series of books.

Initially I wasn't sure if The Vampire Knitting Club was going to be my cup of tea. But, as I was in bed with pneumonia, I fancied something a bit less... intense... than my usual horror or psychological thriller reads.
I am so glad I did. These tales entice you in and keep you engrossed... The characters, the storylines and the excellent choice of narrator, really do fire the imagination.
I have now listened to the 14 books in the series in around ten days. Definite 'page turners' for the ears.
I'm desperately hoping that book 15 is in the works.

Story
What the hex is going on? Life at Cardinal Woolsey's knitting and yarn shop is about as smooth as shop owner Lucy's knitting. In other words, lumpy, tangled, and prone to disaster. Much like her spell-casting. But things get worse when her cousin and shop assistant Violet shows alarming symptoms of a hex. Who would do such a thing? Was it the guy from Witch Date she blew off? Or is Lucy the real target?

Absolutely loved this. Excellent story, and excellent storytelling.
At times this gave genuine thrill of fear... I listened to the entire book over three days. Had I not been forced to do 'life' stuff... It would have been less.

I have read or listened to many Lorraine and Ed Warren books....
But this just seems.... jumbled, unfinished, shoddily put together; even rather ego driven on the part of the author.
The Warren's only actually get an occasional, intermittent mention.

The world's most famous demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren, were called in to help an average American family who were assaulted by forces too awesome, too powerful, and too dark to be stopped. It's a true story, supported by dozens of eyewitnesses - neighbors, priests, police, journalists, and researchers.

Story
Hugh of Singleton, fourth son of a minor knight, has been educated as a clerk, usually a prelude to taking holy orders. However, feeling no certain calling despite a lively faith, he turns to the profession of surgeon, training in Paris and then hanging out his sign in Oxford. A local lord asks him to track the killer of a young woman whose bones have been found in the castle cesspit. She is identified as the impetuous missing daughter of a local blacksmith, and her young man, whom she had provoked very publicly, is in due course arrested and sentenced at the Oxford assizes.
