Story
Based on letters and documents - not seen for 70 years - written by the Catholic Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur during the Nazi occupation of Belgium, this audiobook tells the remarkable story of these brave and faithful women and how they served to resist the German forces. In great detail, these letters document the lives of the sisters and convents under the Nazi regime, detailing the hardships of bombings, hunger and the executions of innocents. But they also tell the story of how these brave and faithful women worked to defeat the Nazis.

this book is not biography or memoir. although drawing on real historical material in letters, this is a fictionalised account, with an invented main character. good for what it is, but only one star because it is missold.

Story
When Sophy is sent to stay with her London relatives, she finds her cousins in quite the tangle. Cecilia is besotted with an attractive but feather-brained poet, Hubert has fallen foul of a money-lender and the ruthlessly handsome Charles is engaged to a pedantic bluestocking who seems to bring out the worst in him. Fortunately, Sophy has arrived just in time to sort them all out - but Charles is eager to rid his family of her meddlesome ways. Has the grand Sophy finally met her match?

Heyer is marvellous
Reviewed: 22-06-21
Georgette Heyer is as always unutterably brilliant, and this story is among her best. the voice performance was reasonable, and didn't detract from the story too much. It wasn't great though, at times accents were misplaced, the servants for example should not have a cockney twang. lady ombersley's character was too commanding, in the book she is written as much more frail. some of the humour was missed by odd word emphases, but all in all a reasonable performance.

Story
Tom Watson began to put on weight in his early 20s, having developed an appetite for fast food and cheap beer while studying at the University of Hull. As time progressed - and his penchant for anything sweet, fatty or fizzy persisted - he found himself adjusting his belt, loosening his collar and upsizing his wardrobe to XXL. He continued to pile on the pounds when he entered the world of politics as MP for West Bromwich East (despite short-lived flirtations with fad diets and fitness classes). By December 2014, his bathroom scales had tipped to 22 stone.

Encouraging experiential story of weight loss.

Worth listening to, Tom Watson's diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes became the springboard for a staggeringly impressive health recovery. While not agreeing with all his political views, he speaks well and passionately about the need to make progress in not allowing another generation be sold a sugar coated carb addicted life with all its consequent woes.

Story
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Story
One wet Friday evening, Professor Andrew Martin of Cambridge University solves the world's greatest mathematical riddle. Then he disappears. When he is found walking naked along the motorway, Professor Martin seems different. Besides the lack of clothes, he now finds normal life pointless. His loving wife and teenage son seem repulsive to him. In fact, he hates everyone on the planet. Everyone, that is, except Newton. And he's a dog.

Then he became a lawyer. Turned out the two weren't that different. It's been more than a year since Eddie vowed never to set foot in a courtroom again. But now he doesn't have a choice. this novel was more like a comic book. implausible plot, caricatures of protagonists, and yet for all that very entertaining and I'll probably follow the next in series. good enough for a listen while doing the housework, I certainly wouldn't have stopped listening till I got to the end.
