When Sasha receives a call from her old university friend Gabby inviting her to spend Christmas at Gabby’s remote Scottish lake house, Sasha knows she shouldn’t go. It started off great, engaging, kept me absorbed but …… as I refuse to spoil the story for others, I will leave it at that and let my scores show how I felt.

I have listened to a few books read by Imogen Church and I just can’t listen to anymore. Each story sounds the same so it takes away the enjoyment of listening. Ruth Ware books have Imogen Church reading all of them I don’t think it’s a good idea to have the same narrator as each book begins to sound like the last.

Story
A mysterious depiction of masked revellers at the Venice carnival hangs in the college rooms of Oliver's old professor in Cambridge. On this cold winter's night, its eerie secret is revealed by the ageing don. The dark art of the Venetian scene, instead of imitating life, has the power to entrap it. To stare into the painting is to play dangerously with the unseen demons it hides, and become the victim of its macabre beauty....

Wasn’t keen on the narrator and was glad when it ended. The book was an eye opener to the sad lives of a couple who appear to put money before anything else. It highlights how we, as the general public, are taken in by the people who run the lives of the rich & famous! I ended up feeling sorry for them especially their children.

I don’t like giving away too much in a review it can spoil the story for others. I will say that this story challenges our belief system on so many levels it is worth listening to for that reason alone. However, it’s also a great story well read and compelling. Give it a go!

Something bad happened last night. My best friend Posey is dead. The police think it was a tragic accident. I know she was murdered. But I can’t remember a thing. I’ve woken up with the hangover from hell, a stranger in my bed, and I’ve gone viral for the worst reasons. There’s only thing stopping me from dying of shame. I need to find a killer.
