Story
What does it mean to be a man in the modern world? Throughout history, being a man has meant different things. Maybe being a man was about being a good hunter, or a good soldier, a good businessman, or maybe good with women. Hard Times Create Strong Men examines what it means to be a man in the modern world relative to money, sex, religion, and politics. This audiobook examines what worked and what doesn’t work based on proven history instead of feelings.

A map to manhood

A must read for any man, with or without purpose.
This has made me question my previous atheism and opened my eyes to things which have been slowing me down or removing my male drive.
it gives you much to think about and ponder but I will finish this review by saying I have never felt so driven and full of purpose to succeed, start my own business, pursue different revenue streams, being a great father to my son & daughter and a good husband to my wife.

Needs to be made into a movie.

As an aliens fanatic, movies, books, comics and every tiny grain of lore I really enjoyed this. It would have felt more natural than the sequel we actually got which I endured because it's my duty.
The only gripe I have if with the two women who are Mary sues, swear all the time and feel so awkward and jarring in an otherwise smooth experience. I've never hoped for characters to be killed off as much as those two, I'd let Burke live over them they are that annoying.
if you can power past that gripe you'll enjoy this very much.

Incredible.

The story is becoming truly intense as the stakes raise, the narrators passion can't help but drag you into the moment. You truly feel its all on a knife edge as the traitors March forever forward.
The only complaint I have is more swearing and that retcon character elder who makes no sense.
she saved the primarchs from their father by dooming them horrible childhoods that LEAD them to a path of ruin but blames the God Emperor.
Also it's quite jarring how the new erder retcon now requires a change in the God Emperor to be less than he was and is.
May not bother casuals but for fans with a long memory I suggest this heavily but ignore the retcon bits.

Story
The Traitor Host of Horus Lupercal tightens its iron grip on the Palace of Terra, and one by one the walls and bastions begin to crumple and collapse. Rogal Dorn, Praetorian of Terra, redoubles his efforts to keep the relentless enemy at bay, but his forces are vastly outnumbered and hopelessly outgunned. Dorn simply cannot defend everything. Any chance of survival now requires sacrifice, but what battles dare he lose so that others can be won? Is there one tactical stroke, one crucial combat, that could turn the tide forever and win the war outright?

Getting intense
Reviewed: 09-03-21
This is a sublime story and amazing increase in pace.
HOWEVER, the retcon forced in was incredibly jarring and so bad that I almost skipped the chapter. The injection of gender was weird, the addition of swearing a bit off putting but forgiveable BUT that perpetual who suddenly is injected into the creation of the primarchs and scattered them instead of chaos was too much to bare. It doesn't make sense, follow any lore or story and also ignores the actual horus heresay story, where you even saw the chaos gods do it and why.
And the way she spoke so negatively about the God Emperor of mankind was petty and heretical. At no point in any story does he act like she makes out, it felt like an injection of sjw politics or something. Been a fan for over 30 years, read almost everything and I hope these kind of weird retcons do not become the norm.

Very strong story although slow to build, almost put me off as I trued to place it in the greater context of the HH.
Wasn't keen on some of the narration but in totality a strong read once you're deeper in it.

Removed from the concerns of the galaxy at large and regarding the Warmaster's unfolding Heresy with cold detachment, he has dedicated his hollow existence to the preservation of all the knowledge once held in the great libraries of Tizca, should mankind ever seek such enlightenment again. But his sons can see the change in their primarch - he is a broken soul whose mind and memories are slipping away into the tumult of the warp.

The Star Scorpions were undone by flaws in their genetic coding. The Celestial Lions were ravaged by the Inquisition for sins they did not commit.
