Story
Pastiche story from H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds from the perspective of H.M.S. Thunder Child’s Royal Navy crew. The year is 1898, and the story unfolds through the eyes of an ironclad crew and a land-based war office clerk Mister Albert Stanley. Gradually, everyone moves toward the dreadful outcome as the strange alien tripods rampage around Victorian Britain.

H.G Wells, I'm sorry this writer jumped on board.

Another example of someone trying to cash in on someone else's success. I endured this book for as long as I could stomach. I listened, I persevered and I hung on tirelessly to try and reach a "good" bit. But sadly it never came.
Imagine how surprised I was when I checked how long was left on the clock...3 1/2 hrs!! ...from a 5 1/2 hrs book!
A cooking pot of poor writing, poor knowledge (stick with saying meteor not meteorite please, the size comparison is bigger than you think it is) and overall terrible vo narration. This pot is on a steady simmer and never came to the boil at any point, even when the Martians turned up. Even if it had, the narrator wouldn't be able to convey any urgency!
Sorry, but it was very hard to listen to.

Story
Caleb is a former Marine Raider and commander of the Vultures, a search and rescue team that's spent the last two years pulling high-value targets out of alien-ravaged cities and shipping them off-world. When his new orders call for him to join 40,000 survivors aboard the last starship out, he thinks his days of fighting are over. The Deliverance represents a fresh start and a chance to leave the war behind for good. Except the war won't be as easy to escape as he thought.

Awfull. I lost interesst halfway through, then found it hard to get back into. I skipped to good bits.
Why did he explain in soo many uneeded words?
And words that nobody has ever heard of?
All the humans were a complete waste of energy. The spiders were more interesting but the over explaining was putting me to sleep.
