Love TJR but not this book

I can’t put my finger on what I didn’t like exactly but I just didn’t like it. I didn’t feel the characters were well developed enough and therefore really didn’t care much what happened to them in one universe not to talk about the second.

Loved the movie and now love the book.

I always like to read a book before watching a movie but I watched this movie about 20 years ago when I was around 13. Never had a movie been so accurate to a book in my opinion. However, I feel the book just gives that little more. Truly amazing writing. Highly recommend.

This is my 5th TJR book and definitely my least favourite. I love her other books, great easy listening. This one was fine but the characters didn’t really stand out. I wasn’t rooting for either guy. The storyline was a little juvenile too.

Story
It’s the year 2000 in a city aglitter with wealth and possibility; what could be so terribly wrong? Our narrator has many of the advantages of life: young, thin, pretty, a recent Columbia graduate, she lives in an apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan paid for, like everything else, by her inheritance. But there is a vacuum at the heart of things, and it isn’t just the loss of her parents in college, or the way her Wall Street boyfriend treats her, or her sadomasochistic relationship with her alleged best friend.
