Mmmh, yes I enjoyed this book. I’d have liked another 30mins of story added to the end… maybe because I WANTED more, and not necessarily that the story should have had more.
Superb narration.
Interesting tale.

Cringey throughout
Reviewed: 10-10-24
The narration was nice - pleasant to listen to. However the story Angela had to work with was sickly sweet. Quite weird. I’ve been in a relationship with a woman nearly twice my age - this story made we cringe throughout it. Mmmh. My least favourite wlw book I’ve listened to.

Loved listening to the tale of Kamala’s life (well, up until 6 years ago). She is absolutely the best candidate for the next American President. Fascinating listening and gosh did I learn so much about hardships that she has helped others through.
Superb. A great choice. Thank you.

Story
Sutton Spencer's ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. It would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling like a total mess, that would be great, too. Charlotte Thompson is very much the opposite.

Sweet characters. I wasn’t always sure if the accents used, but was happy with the narration otherwise.

Story
Pop star Leontyne Blake might sing about love, but she stopped believing in it a long time ago. What women want is her image, not the real her. When her father has a stroke, she flees the spotlight and returns to her tiny Missouri hometown. In her childhood home, she meets small-town nurse Holly Drummond, who isn't impressed by Leo's fame at all. That isn't the only thing that makes Holly different from other women. She's also asexual. For her, dating is a minefield of expectations that she has decided to avoid.

I have read a lot of wlw stories and love them (including another book by JAE).
This was so different due to a main character identifying as asexual. I’ve benefitted from learning about asexuality and how it can vary so much for individuals. However I won’t be keen to read another story with this sexual orientation.
It was also too long a story, as asexuality played such a large part of this story.
I did enjoy Angela’s narration. Yep, not Abby Crayden. But an excellent second place 👍
