I've been listening to this audio for years. This is my go to audio whenever I feel like I need a reminder about sucre and what it takes.
There's no magic formula to follow, no crazy promises, just some simple yet powerful principles that can be implemented straight away.

Ep 6: To Err Is Human

Story
To err is human...but so is our need to deny we have erred. How 'cognitive dissonance' prevents us from admitting errors and learning from our mistakes - leading to medical disasters, miscarriages of justice, warping love and causing life-long feuds. But also how we can learn to deal with cognitive dissonance and redefine our attitude to failure.

I really like Derren, I could not resist the opportunity to learn from this human behaviouer's expert. I was expecting something more in depth but as a 30-minute episode, this is really well done. Great introduction to topics worth paying attention to.

Story
Our confidence in our ability to multitask is largely misplaced. Our brain is really only capable of efficiently doing one thing at a time. Derren explores the difference between our ability to 'look' and 'see', hearing how being responsible for a fatal road accident taught one motorist about the dangers of 'neurological hijacking'.

This episode actually doesn't really require more information. It explains really clearly why we should be aware of our ability to multitask.

Story
Our brain is a machine for jumping to conclusions. Derren reveals how the Halo Effect, Anchoring and Confirmation Bias distort our ability to judge one another – when interviewing someone for a job for example. And nothing makes it more difficult for us to read each other than our powerful instinct to lie, and our equally instinctive tendency to believe.

The Pharmacist of Auschwitz is the little-known story of Victor Capesius, a Bayer pharmaceutical salesman from Romania, who, at the age of 35, joined the Nazi SS in 1943 and quickly became the chief pharmacist at the largest death camp, Auschwitz. Based in part on previously classified documents, Patricia Posner exposes Capesius's reign of terror at the camp, his escape from justice, and how a handful of courageous survivors and a single brave prosecutor finally brought him to trial for murder 20 years after the end of the war.

This book reminds me about a sad episode in the history of humanity: the Second World War. Maybe, even more important, it reminds me individuals (me included) can become authors of the most atrocious crimes. The lessons are multiple: obviously, there is a need for not forgetting the past. There is also the importance of knowing and living my values so I don't become a Capesius if I ever find myself in similar circumstances.

Really good book. It reminds us that what is common doesn't necessarily mean is normal. That is crazy to realise that many health issues could be completely out at least better improved just by paying attention to something as simple as keeping it mouth shut lol🙂.

Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Napoleon Hill digs deep to reveal how fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy prevent us from realizing our personal goals. This long-suppressed parable, once considered too controversial to publish, was written by Hill in 1938 following the publication of his classic bestseller, Think and Grow Rich. Annotated and edited for a contemporary audience by Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Three Feet from Gold coauthor Sharon Lechter, this book is profound, powerful, resonant, and rich with insight.

Extremely good book.
I never put a 5 star but if I don't put a 5 star to this book, there is no way I can give more than a 3 star to any other excellent books I will read.
This book is a must read. So much wisdom, that is just insane. It was written more than 70 years ago and it is still so relevant. That is scary!! I can only recommend you to read this book over and over. That is what I plan to do.
