Story
After a tragic accident at work, all Grady Miller wanted was an escape. He finds it months later with two of his closest friends. Together, the three of them travel south to Prism Lake for the upcoming holiday, where they plan on spending the sunny weekend drinking, grilling, and relaxing. But when a series of monstrous blizzards cover the Eastern United States in feet of snow, knocking out communications and making the roads impossible to drive on, they realize their weekend of fun could turn into a lifetime of survival.

Enjoyable quick listen

A quick listen from AudiblePlus. Got to really like the narrators voice pretty quickly, though he could have made it a lot more dramatic with a change of pace.
I liked the main characters but the others were a bit... meh. Story has potential and wished it had gone a bit deeper. Flat ending.

Amazing characters- I just want to hug them!
I'm not a crier, but this book definitely pulls at my heart strings. Kristin Hannah really takes you on a journey into the Dust Bowl with Elsa and her family. Struggle upon struggle upon conflict but love remains.
Heartbreaking and indeed heartwarming.
Julia Whelan does an amazing job and after listening to the interview at the end, I have a lot of respect for the narrators craft- particularly Whelan.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

What's all the hype about Booktok?
Oh. I seeee.
Fast paced, exciting story with dragons, bloodshed, creatures, family and friend relationships and love with some naughtiness.
Rebecca Yarros has certainly not wasted any words in the whole of this book and even though it appears to be a chunky listen, it zoomed by and the hours disappeared. Great job by the narrator- drama all the way!
Please tell me this is going to be a film right?!
Lovers of The Hunger Games, ACOTAR and Game of Thrones will love this.

What a wonderful idea for a book.
Magical Realism. Addie cannot be remembered. The book follows her life through the troubles and benefits of her curse both in practical ways and in emotional ones.
A beautifully written story, but a third too long.

It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. I thought that this book was about an embalmer and his interesting job, however it was more of a story about a boy/man who happened to be an embalmer at some points. It was heavily based on the choirs in Cambridge. I did enjoy the book though and was a good listen - just not what I expected. The narrator was very good and the accents he did were very well portrayed.

Story
From the Orange Prize-winning, internationally best-selling author of The Song of Achilles comes the powerful story of the mythological witch Circe, inspired by Homer's Odyssey. In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe has neither the look nor the voice of divinity and is scorned and rejected by her kin. Increasingly isolated, she turns to mortals for companionship, leading her to discover a power forbidden to the gods: witchcraft.

Another beautiful tale by Madeline Miller. Greek mythology is a very hard thing to grasp - timelines and characters cross over so much, but hearing the story of one, with connections to others builds a more robust understanding of the great stories.

Loved the narrator, though he did sound sad the entire time. His voice for Achilles sounded a lot like Ben Fogle... 🤩
