Love this series!

I really enjoy this series. It is great to hear a story set around the area I live. The main characters are very likeable and believable, which promotes connection. I felt, however, that this book could have been longer in order to close some gaps. Angus King's narration was perfect as always. I look forward to the next in the series.

Story
Twelve-year-old Phoebe's world is falling apart. It's the summer of 1985 and she has just buried her parents, a fire at their family home claiming both in a freak accident. Her life is uprooted in an instant, and she takes little solace in the fact that her uncle Louis and aunt Maude have generously offered to take her in at their home in the Welsh woods. Under the summer sun, though, Phoebe falls into the rhythm of life with her eccentric guardians in their curious idyllic home, the hum of her aunt Maude's beehives filling the air.

I have listened to all of James Oswald's Tony McLean and Con Fairchild books and loved them but this is something quite different. This is a beautiful story of loss, love and friendship that embraces the author's love of nature and his past life in Wales. The narrator delivers this novel beautifully.

A bit of an emotional rollercoaster but couldn't stop listening. I've loved all of the books in this series but this must be one of the best. The pairing of JD Kirk's incredible story telling and Angus King's perfect narration is a match made in heaven. Please keep them coming.

Story
Sports Agent Myron Bolitar is in his new office on the top of a skyscraper in New York when two FBI agents ask him this very question. The man they refer to is a top basketball player and Myron's former client and old rival. Greg's DNA, they tell him, has been found at the scene of a high-profile double-murder, and he is now their main suspect. It can't be Greg, Myron tells the two agents: the reason he is Myron's 'former' client is because Greg is dead. He died three years ago of a heart attack. Myron went to his funeral and gave the eulogy.

This is definitely a Michael Crichton story. I think that James Patterson's only contribition was some updating. Since I am a huge Crichton fan I really enjoyed this. The narrator was generally good but there were several strange hesitations that spoiled it slightly, just seemed odd.

He’s on Orkney, researching an elaborate stone carrying an ancient religious motif. But he’s perplexed as the carving long predates any previous incidence of the symbol’s first use.
