Story
Riley Dawson is a psychotherapist with a lycanthropic affliction. She’s a werecoyote, to be precise. A foundling adopted by wealthy parents, Riley led a privileged life until she fell in love with Fiona Bell, an evangelical preacher’s daughter. Raging hormones, the full moon, and the pull of Fiona Bell on her teenage heartstrings triggered her first transformation. Unfortunately, her parents witnessed the change and sent her off to college with a trust fund and an agreement never to return home.

As another review said this book is drawn out to the extreme. Normally I love it when author's decide to expand on details about their character's and world, but this is very much a case of extraneous details for details sake and nothing else. The supermatural elements of the story don't add much of anything other than some nice window dressing as well as a reason for the MC to care about animals. The author does an excellent job at selling you on the romance of it all however, and so even if you have to wade through a lot of unnecessary chapters to get to it it is definitely this book's strong point. And I have to say I do like the way in which the MC is written as she is enjoyable to follow and fleshed out well.
SPOILERS
I really dislike how little time was spent on dealing with the aftermath of the murder however. For a book so interested in explaining phsycological theory, the almost non-existent time spent dwelling on what she did and the effect it might have had on her is jarring to say the least. Also the fact we dont know whether she ever tells Fiona or not is baffling to me, considering there's no way that sort of secret wouldn't cause some sort of friction or self doubt. Saying this I've never killed someone haha so maybe I'm talking nonsense, but still for a book with such a long runtime I'd have wished some of the time spent explaining about halloween parties ext was spent instead on dealing with these issues.

Rarely leave reviews but this book compelled me to. Has the perfect blend of romance and engaging plot that makes for a phenomenal read. The fact it doesn't have a 5 star rating whilst some other more mediocre stories do perplexes me, but all the same if you're looking for something truly engaging, look no further than this book.

Diminishing returns

Never have a first few chapters promised so much, yet delivered so little. The main characters never showed anything more than what was on the surface, and the prose had me cringing numerous times throughout. Whilst the worldbuilding did initially have me intruiged, it never made me feel like it was actually inhabbited by real people, rather the world just morphed into whatever the author needed it to be at any one moment in time.
Considering I finished the book I didn't feel like I could give it 1 star, but I finished it only because I hoped that it would recapture some of the excitement and intrigue from those opening chapters. Sadly this didn't happen. All the big "reveals" were predictable, and whilst I normally love a book that spends more time fleshing out its characters, the lack of substance in most of this book made me feel like I was reading a 6 hour story stretched out three times as long as it should have been.
Unless you've exhausted audibles library of lesfic, I cannot reccommend this book whatsoever.

Story
While the investigations go on in Dallas and Baton Rouge after the disappearance of a senator's daughter, FBI agents CJ Johnston and Paige Riley are assigned to the sleepy backwoods of East Texas for a dead-end assignment to infiltrate an all-girls school. Random disappearances dating back 50 years and more raise red flags that point to the tiny, isolated community of Hoganville. But CJ and Paige fear there will be little distraction from the memories of the one-night stand they shared six months ago.

Have read the majority of Geri's books and this particular series is honestly my favourite. She's always done cop stories well but turns out she can do Eldritch horror even better. Definitely worth your time and money. Only criticism i have, as with most of Geri's books is that it's too short!! Could easily have listened to another 10 hours
