About this listen

Every harvest moon, the Witch Collector rides into our valley and leads one of us to the home of the immortal Frost King, to remain forever.

Today is that day—Collecting Day.

But he will not come for me. I, Raina Bloodgood, have lived in this village for twenty-four years, and for all that time he has passed me by.

His mistake.

Raina Bloodgood has one desire: kill the Frost King and the Witch Collector who stole her sister. On Collecting Day, she means to exact murderous revenge, but a more sinister threat sets fire to her world. Rising from the ashes is the Collector, Alexus Thibault, the man she vowed to slay and the only person who can help save her sister.

Thrust into an age-old story of ice, fire, and ancient gods, Raina must abandon vengeance and aid the Witch Collector or let their empire—and her sister—fall into enemy hands. But the lines between good and evil blur, and Raina has more to lose than she imagined. What is she to do when the Witch Collector is no longer the villain who stole her sister, but the hero who's stealing her heart?

Fantastical and Swoonworthy

I love the Witch Walker series, especially the lore and magick system, so decided to give the audiobooks a listen. While I enjoy the narration and performance, I have a really hard time with the male character voices - they all kind of bleed into the same snobby British accent. Despite this, Alexus is still a total heartthrob with so many layers to his backstory. It should also be noted that Raina is mute so uses a form of sign language to speak, which I thought they portrayed quite well in an audiobook.

Issues w narration, otherwise good

The story itself was pretty good. I found it interesting enough and not very predictable! (unpredictability is one of my favourite qualities in a book) But it’s not life changing book either 🤷🏽‍♀️

The narrators are great but do often speak too low or too softly. I’ll turn the volume way up to hear those parts but then the rest of the narration is just too loud. If you’re not too sensitive to sound, then you’ll probably be fine, otherwise expect to be constantly adjusting volume.

Spiciness wise: There is some PG 13 rated stuff in a few places and then some not super explicit R rated stuff near the end. The sequel which I’m still getting through also has some R rated stuff.

Great story, narration not my fave

This book was recommended to me and I love love love the story. The narrators voices are lovely, however I did find it odd the main characters speech is so stilted and slow due to her being nonverbal therefore signing her dialogue. I had to listen to it at 1.5 speed just to make feel more natural. Besides that, I enjoyed it very much and the story is action packed.

Excellent book

Excellent book!! Really enjoyed the female narrators voices! I only wish the rest of the series was already recorded.

I love it.

I cannot wait until the 4th book comes out. I absolutely loved this series.

My only complaint is that I cannot stand the male actors voice and the female actor does a really bad job and trying to do a man’s voice. Google “a dramatic reading of a real breakup letter” to hear how the guys voice sounds.

Enjoyed

Great book, I’m not a fan of the narrating when Raina is signing but other than that it’s great

I don't understand it's popularity

The story is meh. Almost DNFed it several times. The narration is okay but the story is awkward and drags on.

Save your time

Story is okay at best. Did not really capture my attention. Narrator is very good. Overall story line is boring and predictable.
