About this listen
From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.
Kelsier "snapped" and found in himself the powers of a Mistborn. A brilliant thief and natural leader, he turned his talents to the ultimate caper, with the Lord Ruler himself as the mark. Kelsier recruited the underworld's elite, the smartest and most trustworthy allomancers, each of whom shares one of his many powers, and all of whom relish a high-stakes challenge. Only then does he reveal his ultimate dream, not just the greatest heist in history, but the downfall of the divine despot. But even with the best criminal crew ever assembled, Kel's plan looks more like the ultimate long shot, until luck brings a ragged girl named Vin into his life.
Like him, she's a half-Skaa orphan, but she's lived a much harsher life. Vin has learned to expect betrayal from everyone she meets, and gotten it. She will have to learn to trust, if Kel is to help her master powers of which she never dreamed.
This saga dares to ask a simple question: What if the hero of prophecy fails?

Story
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

Story
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

I loved every second of this book.
I finished this book in about 3 days. It was a beautiful fantasy tale. There was action, romance, mystery, espionage, magic, twists, and secrets. The author made the reader, or listener, feel a connection with the characters as the main character finds her self. I cant wait to listen to the next. The reader varied the voices enough to clearly differentiate the characters and had a relaxing tone and pace. Would recommend to anyone!

Fascinating
I have been looking to delve into a fantasy genre for a while and this book did not disappoint! The world building, story telling and characters are all exciting and fresh! Each character plays an important role. Listening to this while driving and commuting makes time pass by so quickly that I don't want to get out of the car! A definite recommend. I can't wait to get into the second book :) #audible1

A great entry into fantasy
I had read this book in my teens and decided to revisit it again. It is very approachable for people who are not used to high fantasy.
Some troops can be found and parts can be predicted but the story has good turns and even having read it before some of the twists still got me.
The audio was good but some of the voices had to grow on me over time.
Overall I recommend this book if you are interested in fantasy.

**MY** problem with his work
So, okay, this was great, 5/5 character building world building everything was awesome. Now MY only problem with his writing is, and it's the same with the storm light chronicles, he starts you off in the middle of an already vast story. Now as I said this is MY problem, as in it's not the writing, it's just me. Once you get past the parts where you feel like you've missed a book, it's amazing, just for me it's hard to get to that point. If you're anything like me then just get through the first bit, it's unbelievably worth it!
