About this listen

Hazbin Hotel meets Crescent City in this new fantasy romance series from USA Today bestseller Piper CJ.

"How does a human girl lose the Prince of Hell?"

Marlow needs to believe she's crazy. The alternative would mean embracing the gift—or curse—shared by her mother and grandmother: she can see angels and demons, including a dark and haunting entity who's been with Marlow her entire life. At least, she believes that's all he is until a fae from the Nordic pantheon strolls into her life and informs her that she's been sharing a bed with the Prince of Hell.

A Prince who's now gone missing.

Before she knows it, Marlow is deeply entangled in a centuries-old war, stumbling straight into a battleground between mighty beings of myth and legend from powerful pantheons around the world. And who will come out on top may just depend on her and the love she never dared to believe in.

Contains mature themes.

Can't wait for the next one

thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love the lore and this take on mythology. The narration is done nicely, their are distinct differences between each character and the style of monologuing is very natural feeling.

Love the story and love love love the author!!

Absolutely loved this story!! The main character is complex and interesting, the side characters are loveable and fun. I adored the banter between the characters. The representation of folk lore, religion, and myth and reality within the story was well done. I don't think there was a point in the book where I got bored, which is a feat of its own. Overall this may be one of my new top 5 favorites and I can't wait for the next one!

relatable characters and fun blending of real life and fantasy

Even my deeply religious mother thought it sounded interesting when I gave her the sanitized tl;dr, but as a vaugely witchy leaning agnostic who grew up in a deeply evangelical (borderline culty) sect of "the other side" AND a redhead with Norwegian roots (and a deadly sweet tooth) the major characters of Marlow and Fauna were incredibly relatable...

I binged this in under two days and will have to relisten to catch details I may have missed on first read... while some moments were a touch predictable the majority of the plot and supporting characters/worlds felt very immersive and unique and my only complaint was how long the search was taking, but I think that frustration is what the author intended and since this is only book one in a series there will be plenty of time for events to resolve!

Overall 10/10 no notes

An unconventional view on the Gods and what happens when they clash.

A phenomenal book that had me hooked from early on. Couldn’t get enough of it and absolutely could not put it down. The attention to detail is obvious in Piper‘s history. And her love of the material is absolute gold counting until the next book.

Fun read & different from the usual

Wasn’t sure at first because it started off a little smutty but that cools off to reveal a fun story line different than anything I’ve read before. A new take on the angels, demons, gods & goddesses dynamic. Just the right amount of smut, just started off strong in the beginning lol. Really enjoyed & can’t wait for the next book.

Boring FMC

Oh wow, talk about great potential, interesting mythologies, a messy plot and poorly developed characters. The female lead writes fantasy for a living but has a hard time believing the otherworldly companion she’s had all her life is real 🤣 her inner monologue was exhausting all the way to the end.

MMC shows up towards 70% of the book in the most underwhelming way, to disappear again in a mega MEH cliffhanger.

Not worth a credit imo. I only have myself to blame, should’ve believed GR reviews lol.

Amazing narration tho! It must be hard to narrate such a mess of a book. Also the tittle has no connection to what I read 🤷🏻‍♀️
