Story
Maggie is an unapologetically grumpy forty-eight-year-old hermit. But when her college-aged son makes her a deal—he’ll be more social if she does the same—she can’t refuse. She joins a new online gaming guild led by a friendly healer named Otter. So that nobody gets the wrong idea, she calls herself Bogwitch. Otter is Aiden, a fifty-year-old optimist using the guild as an emotional outlet from his family drama caring for his aging mother while his brother plays house with Aiden’s ex-fiancée.

A Beautiful and Unconventional Love Story.
Reviewed: 2023-08-29
An unconventional and beautiful story of 2 unlikely protagonists of a romance story. What's "normal" anyway? 😉
Sometimes a chance at happiness and new beginnings require ending some painful chapters. Great book and outstanding narration with quality voice-acting, both male and female (although I am always biased in favour of Chris Brinkley), no wonder they got an award.
Strongly recommend !!!

Story
I don’t care what other people think as long, as they leave me alone to focus on my research on soil microbiology. Plus, I walk with a cane thanks to a childhood accident. I have scars on my face. And if that isn’t enough to scare people off, my bad attitude and general grumpiness seal the deal. Which is just the way I like it. Except, I’ve been short listed for one of the most prestigious academic fellowships around. To win it, I’ll have to give a series of speeches. On a stage. With an audience. While being filmed.

Story
Wyatt King isn’t looking for love...because he’s already found it. Too bad she’s off-limits. He’s not going to be the jerk who messes around with his best friend’s little sister, so he keeps his feelings bottled up and settles for acting as her protector instead. Andie Lockhart’s dreamed of kissing Wyatt for as long as she’s known what kissing is. But since he’s dated nearly every woman in town but her, she’s long since accepted he’ll never see her as anything more than his best friend’s tomboy little sister.

Enjoyed every minute of it. It was nice to discover an imperfect male protagonist with great character development. Amazing narration by Chris Brinkley makes this audiobook just delicious to listen to.

Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually.
Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone's favorite Winston Brother. This might not be everyone's cup of tea but to me it was just amazing. Picture the kind-hearted, gorgeous Beau first hating, then crushing on a stunning female protagonist with issues. He takes her under his wing, takes care of her, and accompanies her in her healing journey. Everyone deserves to be loved. Thanks for reminding us, Penny Reid.

Story
She’s not just my ex-girlfriend. She’s my new coworker. I knew Lucy Dillard was "The One" the first time I met her. Yes, I’m enough of a sap to believe in love at first sight. When I fell for Lucy, I fell hard. Everything was great between us - until the moment she dumped me. Now I just want to forget about her. Instead, I’m stuck staring at her face all day. But I need this job, so I’ll find a way to be civil and professional. There’s just one small problem: I’m nowhere close to being over her.

Story
Midge Everette: I'm 41 today. It's my birthday, and I'm crying over burnt toast. That's not some euphemism. Literally, I'm sobbing over crusty bread, so I call a crisis center. I just need someone to talk to about life. Only I recognize the smoky voice of the man on the line. Sweet cheese, don't let it be... Hank Paige: As a former rock star, I once had it all. Fame. Fortune. Females. Except for the one thing I wanted most. Then I lost everything. I fix cars now and restore other people's dreams. I just want to be somebody's someone.

Perhaps the least liked book of LB Dunbar. Less sex and more story, please. I do not dislike steamy scenes when they serve the plot. Here, they were in the way.

Story
Rowan McKinnon doesn’t believe in love. With a botany PhD, two best friends who embrace her social quirkiness, and some occasional no-strings sex, she has everything she needs. But she hides deep wounds from the past—from a negligent mother, and a fiancé who treated her like a pawn in a game. When an academic setback leads Rowan to take on the restoration of an abandoned vineyard, she relishes the opportunity to restore the grapes to their former glory. She does not expect to meet a man like Harrison Brady.

A few days ago, someone said that Love in a Pickle made her like Scotia Simmons, yes THAT Scotia Simmons from The Winston Brothers by Penny Reid.
I was intrigued, so I checked it out, and I am in awe. L.B. Dunbar outdid herself and created a complicated and complex female protagonist who hides behind the mask of a mean girl to protect herself.
I wasn't sure I was going to buy it, as Penelope Reid had done an amazing job making us despise Scotia, but I did buy into her new persona. Well done, LB Dunbar. 👏🏻
Loved the audiobook, and once again, Chris Brinkley's voice is just perfection. He narrates and voice acts like no one else. Strongly recommend.

Penny Reid is exceptional at creating the most unexpected and flawed protagonists and make them extremely relatable and easy to like and admire. Their journey is an inspiration for us and the narration is just wonderful. Joy Nash is so talented and Chris Brinkley is an outstanding voice-actor and I am totally addicted to his voice.
