Good book on understanding masculinity and femininity within the context of relationships
Reviewed: 2023-11-30
Good book as a reminder or starting point on understanding masculinity and femininity and the dynamics between the two. The book does overuse the word “love”, “giving”, etc way too much that you hear the word almost every other sentence. The performance is presented in a strong stoic voice but does get a little dull over time.

Great short story on improving work culture

The narration was well done and the story was well done. Short and simple, however it could use a little more depth on the principles mentioned in the book as it’s not so easy to implement the strategies unless you do have authority within your organization.

Story
I got into medical school by saying I was black. I lied. Honestly, I am about as black as my sister Mindy Kaling. Once upon a time, I was an ethically challenged, hard-partying Indian-American frat boy enjoying my third year of college. That is until I realized I didn't have the grades or test scores to get into medical school. Legitimately.

mostly concepts, not practical advice
Reviewed: 2020-01-21
a lot of concepts explained but there's no practical plan on how to go about making your money work for you. also I'm skeptical since the book says to use money under a corporation to pay for personal expenses (vacations, cars, etc) which could possibly get you in trouble with the law

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

I found this book to be slightly disappointing. Dr. Peterson goes on quite a few tangents in the book that delay getting to the point of his message in my opinion.
The book does have good advice on how to help improve your life. But overall I think the content could have been reduced.
