Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

Great book, back and forth on performance

I love this book, it might be one of my favs in the series. just like I said with the books before, though, it's great but the female performer made it...hard to stick through. She's fantastic when she's narrating normally but when she adds too much emotion it becomes hard to listen to.

Story
Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

Love it, the performance made anything spicy very cringy though. I'm not sure why emotion makes her sound like a 87 year old but....that's what it gave off for me. I never thought the spice (or Casteel) was cringy when I physically read the books but now listening, it's not the same :/

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

I love these books, I read them and (because there's so much info) decided to listen as a re-read. it's still really good (if a bit repetitive in some places) but love it. the performer is really good at narration but sometimes she overacted a lot when trying to portray emotion. Some of the accents were so bizarre, but I could get past that. I had trouble continuing through the overacting though.

Story
Alex Volkov is a devil blessed with the face of an angel and cursed with a past he can't escape. Driven by a tragedy that has haunted him for most of his life, his ruthless pursuits for success and vengeance leave little room for matters of the heart. But when he's forced to look after his best friend's sister, he starts to feel something in his chest. Ava Chen is a free spirit trapped by nightmares of a childhood she can't remember. But despite her past, she's never stopped seeing the beauty in the world . . . including the heart beneath the icy exterior of a man she shouldn't want.

The story is good but the female performer made it unbearable. I really tried to get through it but I can't do it, her two voices are whispering and whisper-growling and it made everything really cringey and uncomfortable to listen to. I think I'll try to read the physical books instead as I liked everything else.

Story
Through the years, I lived more as an enigma than a man. For so long, I denied I had a beating heart of my own. Until her. Until she unearthed the starving vessel inside, forced me to acknowledge it, forced me to understand that I’m capable of bleeding the same as any other. For that, we paid. We're still paying. Yet she demands it still; the useless heart of the ruthless thief and shameless villain she fell for. My fear is that I’m no longer that man.

I loved this perspective and this spiral and the roller coaster but also got immense relief in the ANSWERS that were provided here. It was really good, pretty funny in some parts, very emotional in others, a lot of big reveals without being over the top. I loved it!

Story
It’s a ghost town, this place that haunts me, the one that made me. It’s clear to me that I’ll never outgrow Triple Falls or outlive the time I spent here. I can still feel them all, my boys of summer. Even when I'd sensed the danger, I gave in. I didn’t heed a single warning. I let my sickness and my love both rule and ruin me. I played my part, eyes wide open, tempting fate until it delivered. There was never going to be an escape. All of us are to blame for what happened. All of us are serving our own sentences.

Ok, I wasn't huge on the first one (it was still good but wasn't this), but THIS ONE was NUTS. I loved the story, I loved the characters, the performance still left a little to be desired as far as Cecilia went (it seemed like whenever Cecilia had any emotion the actor really leaned in to the same shaky, crying voice and that got a bit exhausting, almost overacting) but overall was pretty good. I got WAY more emotional throughout than I thought I would. Part one had me HOT and angry and a little frustrated but child, part two had me crying and falling to my knees and stressed and laughing and cheering, My god. I like that there wasn't JUST spicy but also great plot (imo), Really good. I finished it in one day

Story
Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets. Secrets that cost us everything to keep. That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to. Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence, due to my illness, and all were punished.

I am definitely interested in the next two after reading this one but mainly because I felt it left too much mystery. The plot was interesting, the characters entertaining, the performance was alright (I preferred the male actor as the female didn't seem to fit exactly but overall was good), Overall decent, I feel like once I get through some of the mystery I'll enjoy it more.

Story
Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual. Trapped in a shared office together 40 (ok, 50 or 60) hours a week, they've become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship.
