Story
A down-to-earth global pop star. A deeply spiritual, cerebral powerhouse. A famously outspoken introvert. For her millions of fans, and the few unacquainted, defining rock luminary Alanis Morissette is an exercise in dichotomies and nuance. And though her most formidable traits are seemingly at odds with one another, they are, oddly enough, completely emblematic of all of us: complex, conflicting, and, most importantly, ever evolving. With her striking command of language and profound emotional fluency, the 46-year-old covers an enormous amount of personal ground with listeners.

Just too short, I appreciated her delivery and loved the acoustic music. But felt more of just a self promotion. Just not enough for me.

Even as Demi was becoming the highest paid actress in Hollywood, however, she was always outrunning her past. Throughout her rise to fame and during some of the most pivotal moments of her life, Demi battled addiction, body image issues, and childhood trauma that would follow her for years - all while juggling a skyrocketing career and at times negative public perception.

I enjoyed Demi’s story. I had long since forgotten how much even I for some reason saw her as unhinged and judged her during her Ashton years. It was nice to get some insight from herself.

He’s most definitely windswept and interesting! So matter of fact.

Billy is not an “actor”. Not really, even though he’s done film and television. I think he’s just basically played himself in roles. Or maybe it’s age and a careless what ya think attitude. I found his narration one note, but I still enjoyed his tellings. Mind you I’m coming off Mrs Sally Field who is well a phenomenal narrator.
I was surprised by some of Billy’s life. He brings just the right amount of humour, feels like you’re visiting your uncle and he’s meandering through memories and family stories.
Don’t get annoyed at Billy’s great ability to completely ramble, just love him for being windswept and interesting 💜

Like other famous people she is raw and unfiltered in her delivery of her emotions and struggles. However even when sharing her thoughts on her own inadequacy or moments of no confidence… I did not feel beat down hearing about “I was not good enough” she shares it with honesty and a breath of growth looking back understanding where she was and where she is now. I thank her for sharing such private spaces of her life, I appreciated so much her relationship with her mom, flawed but cherished.

Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges, and incredible experiences of her earlier years. It includes tales of living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross-country road trip, saying good-bye to her father in a way only he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led her to the successful, happy, and healthy place she is today.

I loved it. Only one star off as she edited her accounts of her life for a quite uplifting telling. I would’ve met her through any raw telling of her struggles, but I also respect she told her story how she wanted to. I love her even more after listening.

Frustrating but He does what he sets out to do!
Reviewed: 2023-12-30
Yes I agree with other reviewers that I too screamed out to the air…”seriously Matt! Grow up”
He frustrated me incessantly. I got so tired of hearing drugs alcohol drugs alcohol…. I can’t love I am not enough.
But then I got it. He was giving me insight into my own family members who deal with addiction. I changed my line of thinking and started studying instead of trying to be entertained. I’ve learned so much into the whys, that our own loved ones just can not answer when in the throws of addiction. Am I going to be more accepting… no, I don’t invite the addiction in to my home as my children are not going to be exposed to pain, anger, violence. BUT am I going to have more grace, think less critical thoughts, yes I will.
Matthew Perry was a broken man, he didn’t hid it, I don’t understand why anyone including myself should expect more than his true story.
I’ve read this after his death, a friends fan, seen his movies…. I will still love and appreciate his time and the entertainment and laughter he’s given us. Such an incredible shame, but if he was truly free and in the understanding he states… maybe that’s all he needed in this lifetime. Maybe he accomplished what he was meant to do.
I guess we will never know.
Rest in Peace Matty

Mr Martin… I think maybe I made the mistake of coming fresh off the heels of Marty Shorts biography. I honestly felt your disconnect to your early years, as it really felt you were just reading. I contemplated turning you off.. it took me a long time in small bits to finish. Your last 1/4 of the book I finally felt connected to you. Very interesting history and I appreciate knowing it… but Marty completely upstaged you 😜
