LOVED IT FOR THE 3RD TIME
Reviewed: 2022-11-10
Again, I found the story engrossing. I loved the series, and when I found out about Belegrath the Socerer, I couldn't wait to read it. I read the book version twice. When I got the audible book, I couldn't wait to listen to it. I wasn't disappointed. If you loved the series as I did, you have to listen to this. Without it, and Polgara the Sorceress, you don't have the whole story.
The Narrator was fantastic. To me, he sounded like I believed Belgarath to be. He also did a great job with all the other voices.
Once a few years have past, I will likely listen to it again.

Story
When the world was young and Gods still walked among their mortal children, a headstrong orphan boy set out to explore the world. Thus began the extraordinary adventures that would mold that youthful vagabond into a man and the man into the finely honed instrument of Prophecy known to all the world as Belgarath the Sorcerer. Then came the dark day when the Dark God Torak split the world asunder, and the God Aldur and his disciples began their monumental labor to set Destiny aright.

Story
In the shadow of Mount Hood, 16-year-old Tennant is checking rabbit traps with her eight-year-old sister Sophie when the girls are suddenly overcome by a strange vibration rising out of the forest, building in intensity until it sounds like a deafening crescendo of screams. From out of nowhere, their father sweeps them up and drops them through a trapdoor into a storm cellar. But the sound only gets worse....

Story
Ivy thought that she and Adrian had conquered their fates. Yet with thousands of innocents still trapped in the demon realms, she's determined to locate the final hallowed weapon and harness its unparalleled power to free them. But the last relic nearly put Ivy in the grave - there's probably no coming back from this one. Adrian's dark lineage has made him the most powerful of his kind, yet even his incredible abilities might not be enough now. Instead, the treacherous fate he has fought so hard to escape might be the only way he can save Ivy.

Conclusion

Overall, it was a really good story. There were things that detracted from it. Adrian sounded like Vlad and Kosta like Ian. The cover art didn't match the description of Adrian. He was 6'6", not the slim guy on the covers. At times, I found Ivy to be incredibly stupid which annoyed the heck out of me. I literally bitched her out while listening with ear phones and walking my dog. Jasmine was very self-centered, which I suppose had to do with her age. But i just found her annoying. However, I absolutely LOVED Brutus!
I have reread all the Cat and Bones books, along with the other Night Huntress World novels, numerous times, and will continue to do so. This trilogy, I don't think I will.

Story
Conquering a supernatural realm turned out to be easier than getting over a broken heart. But her initial victory has made Ivy a target for revenge, forcing her to reunite with the dangerous - and dangerously sexy - Adrian. Ivy isn't sure which will be harder: finding the hallowed weapon that will repair the crumbling walls between the demon and human realms or resisting Adrian, who's decided that, come hell or high water, he will make Ivy his.

With this 2nd story, I was disappointed that Tavia make Adrian sound like Vlad and Kosta like Ian. in the 1st book, neither had much of an accent, and I'm guessing she was told to change that. I found it very distracting.

Enjoyed This 3rd Book

I really enjoyed the whole story over the 3 books. As with all her main characters, she has created 3 dimensional "people" that you can't help falling in love with. You genuinely care about them and what happens to them. This whole storyline with Ian and Veritas was great. So many surprises revealed about them that added to the overall story begun with Cat and Bones. My only fear is that one day, the story will be over and we'll have to leave all these wonderful people we love behind.

Story
Master vampire Ian is unrepentant, shameless...and every shade of wicked. He’s made one too many enemies in his two centuries of existence, including Dagon, a demon who now lays claim to his soul. Ian’s only chance to escape Dagon is to join forces with a Law Guardian, but he's never been able to abide by the rules for long.

Firstly, it wasn't Tavia Gilbert reading the story, so it wasn't as enjoyable and didn't feel part of that storyline.
Secondly, the story was thin and unsatisfying.
Not worth the credit I used to purchase it.

Story
It began on New Year’s Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.

Really enjoyed this first book. Not your typical story of a virus wiping out most of the world's population. The addition of magic kicks it up a notch or two. The Narrator is really good - the kind of good that allows you to fully emerge yourself into the characters and story.
