After sending his army to besiege another king's capital, King David forces himself on Bathsheba, a loyal soldier's wife. When her resulting pregnancy forces the king to murder her husband and add her to his harem, Bathsheba struggles to protect her son while dealing with the effects of a dark prophecy and deadly curse on the king's household. Combining historical facts with detailed fiction, Angela Hunt paints a realistic portrait of the beautiful woman who struggled to survive the dire results of divine judgment.

Out of the ashes a true love formed over time
Reviewed: 2024-02-05
A beautifully written story not only of Bathsheba but of King David and his people and Adonai's will being carried out and prophecies fulfilled. Strong message of how God can turn what Satan means for evil into God's will and glory fulfilled. A redemptive story of a beloved but flawed King and a broken beauty and their growing love and friendship through much sorrow and joy until the end. I love these stories that are true to Scripture yet fill in the blanks creatively, not to change truth but personalizes the characters, God's role and sovereignty and reconnects us personally with the people and events in the Bible. Jesus Christ eventually came from the line of David. All the stories, characters and prophecies from the Old Testament lead to Jesus. We can relate and learn from the mistakes and lessons of the history of God's people. To see ourselves and relate to the stories and characters to help us be more understanding and gracious and to wake us up, bring us to repentance and to life transformation. To see God's will done in the past gives hope that His will is done in present and future. I am growing to understand more and long to meet the saints of Old, the present ones and future ones too. Longing for eternity with God and having that assurance that life doesn't end when we leave this earth. Selah. Amen.

Betrayed and falsely accused of attempted murder, Judah's property is confiscated and his family arrested—and he himself is sent to the galleys.

I am enjoying this series and am learning about God as Father, Defender, Shield, Holy, Powerful, Perfect, Provider, Protector and so much more. This series inspires a yearning to draw nearer to o God, our Abba. Drawing us to His word, to prayer, to sharing Him with others, to repentance and greater faith, to obedience.

Story
Thomas and Tasmin, twin siblings hired to oversee a wedding feast in Cana, worry when the host runs out of wine...until a guest tells Tasmin to have the servants fill the pitchers by the gate with water from the cistern. Reluctantly, she obeys and is amazed when rainwater turns into the finest wine ever tasted in Cana. When Thomas impulsively decides to follow the teacher from Nazareth, he and Tasmin argue - since the twins have been together since the womb, Tasmin can't accept losing her brother to some magician-prophet.

I appreciate being given a glimpse into how things might have seemed to family and friends in Nazareth. I'm learning to have compassion rather than criticism when I see a different perspective. Excellent story that captures the heart and moves the spirit.

A love story like no other.....

This book was graphic and well-written. At times you might wonder if you should continue but I recommend you do. The message God wants for you will be revealed if you but open your heart, see clearly past all the images your mind can conjure up as you get a glimpse into this tragic time. Times not so different from the times we're in today. You'll see what bondage and freedom really is. You'll understand the beauty of faith and obedience in God. Your heart will know fully the love and hope for those who trust and obey the Lord. God's ways are not our ways. His answers to prayers are not always as we want them to be but they're always how He wills, to His glory and the best for us. Happily ever after sure was turned inside out for me. I feel changed inside as a result of this story. God help me to have a faith like Hadassah had in this story. Holy Spirit help me to love and live as she did.

Best-selling author and inspirational speaker Tommy Tenney teams with Mark Andrew Olsen to deliver a mesmerizing tale of historical fiction. Favorably compared to Anita Diamant's The Red Tent for its unexpected plot twists, Hadassah is the fictional account of the Bible's Esther, the Jewish peasant girl who became queen of Persia.

Life-changing account of one of the greatest heroines of all time. I'm so inspired by Queen Esther's faith journey and courage to answer the call on her life to save her people the Jews, from destruction, Her courage and faith ultimately saved the line of Judah of which David's line on down to the blood line of Jesus descended. Such vivid examples of what the enemy meant for evil, God used for good and His glory. This awesome God we serve can do anything through anyone. Even a peasant Jewish girl named Hadassah. Such a well-written book! God-inspired to inspire all who have the privilege to read it.

Story
When Cherringham choir stalwart Arthur Chisholm is robbed in the dead of night, ending up in hospital, it seems he's just the victim of bad luck. Bad timing too, since he will now miss the choir's special holiday performance of Handel's Messiah - to be performed with scores of other local choirs, in London's Royal Albert Hall. But as more of their fellow choir members are burgled, Jack and Sarah realise these crimes are no coincidence.

Drama, intrigue and some answers about Bess' beloved friend Simon. Overall the story was good and you could feel Bess's angst over where she stood with Simon. Now we must await the next book where we hope those two can reconcile and possibly forge on towards a future we hope will one day see them in love and embracing a future together. As with all of the books in this series, one can expect that the way to happy ever after will be filled with hurdles, intrigue and possibly murder.
