I enjoyed the first book, I personally found Persephone a little annoying in this book, I get her being mad at hades but she handled literally everything in her life so poorly and was super whiny and took out her pain on everyone around her. She just acted super immaturely. And man is there relationship toxic
They did everything but communicate with each other lol

I found the female lead kind of annoying and dramatic, she wasn’t super likeable in my mind. The story was pretty good. But the female lead kind of ruined it for me

Story
JARED - If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat...The heart everyone assumes is frozen over. Her anger is...arousing. Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth, gets me...well, you know. If I had a dollar for every time she's put me in my place, I'd be an even richer man. I'm a successful sports agent because I assume "no" means you'll think about it. I'm sure what you meant to say is, "Coming right up." They say even rich men don't always get what they want, but those men don't know how to play the game.

I found the heroine wasn’t my favourite here, I really liked how much of a bad ass she was, and did her own thing, owned who she was and always stood up for herself despite her insecurities. But I hated how she treated the men in her life, it wasn’t fair how she treated zo, she cheated and he didn’t deserve it at all (even though it was with the hero)
They were best friends for years before she got involved with zo and she broke his heart in a bad way. And then she gives zo false hope later…. I get she felt she had to, but that still wasn’t fair to him, she knew she didn’t love zo like that but she gave him false hope that he might have a shot when he never did. That wasn’t fair to him
And then Jared (the hero) had to just sit by while she gave her ex false hope and he just had to wait months for her. Not fair to him at all.
She needed to be honest about what she wanted and how she felt. That was the best thing she could have done for zo.
I did like the story though, that part just bothered me

It started out like any other morning on the train - until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle. He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world. Who did the stuck-up suit think he was...God? Actually, he looked like a god. That was about it.

Annoying female lead
Reviewed: 2023-10-31
Spoiler
The story was decent, predicable
But the female lead was very annoying, I wasn’t a fan of her at all. Buddy literally got a tattoo of her name and she still was acting all, oh they could be a family, it was insufferable

Story
When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson. Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn't be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he's still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I'm trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer. Boy, was I wrong.

Story
Sending him to prison was the worst thing I could've done. It didn't matter that he did the crime or that I wished he was dead. Perhaps I thought I'd have time to disappear before he got out or he'd cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was. But I was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and now he's anything but calm. Prison only gave him time to plan. And while I anticipated his vengeance, I didn't expect this. He doesn't want to make me hurt. He wants to make everything hurt.

I was definitely most excited for Damon’s story, he’s a very messed up complex person and I needed in his head. You truly do end up feeling for him. There was the sub plot with him and will that kinda came out of nowhere and wasn’t really explained much when I felt I needed more explanation…. Maybe I’ll get it in wills book. But all and all, good story, I’m also just not a big fan of the guy narrator. He sounds a lot older then Damon’s suppose to be.

Story
The Sick Boys are hiding something from me. They want to pretend like I didn't kill my rapist and they didn't help. But we're not ordinary college students, that much has become clear to me, and I'm growing tired of all of the lies and secrets. Their masks are cracking, and, finally, I'm starting to see the grotesque reality underneath. It's far darker than I ever expected, and it's not enough. They know everything about me, so now it's my turn. I fear nothing. Not them. Not the man that I killed or the people who set me up.

The story is pretty decent, I really can’t get over why they have the guy and girl fake a man voice and a girl voice while doing there chapter. It’s really weird, like when the chapter is in deans POV, he does a fake girls voice for Avalon, and when it’s in avalons POV she fakes a male voice for dean. It’s distracting and odd, I’m. It sure why they would do it that way. Especially since Avalon goes from being super attitude and kinda bratty in her voice but when dean does her voice in his chapters, he makes her sound more meek. It’s just odd. But besides that the story is good and I’m hoping all the unanswered questions are revealed and good in the next book.
