Histoire
The ice is coming. It was the last thing we expected, but the world is freezing. A new ice age has dawned. Billions have fled the glaciers. A cataclysmic war is coming. In orbit, a group of scientists are running the Winter Experiments, a last-ditch attempt to understand why the planet is cooling. None of the climate models they build make sense. But then they discover an anomaly, an unexplained variation in solar radiation...and something else. Close to the burning edge of the sun, they catch a fleeting glimpse of something that shouldn’t be there....

Great story, steady pace
Évalué le: 2024-07-17
I enjoyed this audiobook. There were some interesting novel ideas that were explored and the characters were great. Some of the themes were drawn out a little too long (or delayed!). But overall, no regrets. Enjoyable and interested in the next one!

I could not get in to this book
Évalué le: 2022-02-13
After years of seeing this book around, I decided to give it a go to help burn through some credits. I could not get in to it. The stories seemed to try too hard to have a deepness to them...a profoundness that the listener is guilted in to listening. I seemed to be waiting for some great revelations, but they never came. If you"re undecided about reading this book, keep looking.

He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind"s most ancient and unattainable dream.

I can’t believe they approved the narration
Évalué le: 2020-11-28
As others have mentioned, the only thing consistent about the production quality is the inconsistency of it! Very very confusing having them switch around different narrators all the time. It’s very distracting and took away from the story and the experience as a whole. Decent storyline.

I ended up wanting to come back for more!
Évalué le: 2020-04-11
To be honest, I wasn"t that impressed with the story. It often felt like a chivalrous prepper army fanboy fantasy...and I almost didn"t finish the book. But I have to admit, 4-5 months after, I"m wanting to go back for more!

Vain and shallow, the biggest blot on his horizon is having to get out of bed in the morning to train with obsessive and boring old men.

A slow burn, but a good one
Évalué le: 2020-04-11
I"ve gone through a lot of the fantasy series, and was hoping to come across another good one that could keep me going for a while. The book, and the other 2 in the series, are slow but good. The narrator is amazing and makes a serious contribution to the enjoyment of the book/series; probably the best narrator i have yet to come across. As a standalone book, this one would not likely do, but if you"re looking for a new series, and you like the fantasy realms, this is a solid choice.

A Good Conclusion

I’ve had mixed feelings about this series. Overall, I do not regret the time and money I put into listening to it. It is not a bad series, I just wanted it to be a little better. The books definitely got better as I moved through the series.

A Worthwhile Series
Évalué le: 2019-09-16
I specifically prefer a story with many long books in the series. I"ve just completed the entire Expanse series and came back to review this first book to say that it is a great series. I switch between fantasy and Sci-Fi, and while this first book I only gave 4/5 on the storyline....the remaining seven books are all a 5. This is one of those series you are sad to finish because now I am struggling to find a new one.

My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

A good use of a credit
Évalué le: 2018-11-10
The story continues, and is worth spending the credit on. Some long drawn out sections that almost lost me. If you like the first one, you’ll enjoy this longer sequel.

Excellent series
Évalué le: 2018-08-01
This is a great Sci-Fi series. The author explores a lot of different ideas, with a few good twists along the way. There are some parts that could have had smoother transitions...maybe taken a bit longer to resolve...but it does not take away from the whole experience. No regrets in using my credits and time to enjoy this series (all of the Fear Saga books).
