Great story, had me wondering and worrying with great twists and turns. Be warned there’s mentions of animal cruelty and abuse in this book. The narration was excellent and she has a beautiful voice so I really enjoyed listening to her.

Freida McFadden has done it again! This was a fantastic book and I must say normally I’m not a fan of Allison Krawchuk narrating, but she did a decent job in this one, but “Anonymous”’ was INCREDIBLE!! Every time “anonymous” came on, I seriously got shivers. This was a fast-paced, suspenseful, creepy, scary thriller full of twists and turns and nonstop action that’ll keep you guessing right until the end. You will not figure it out trust me! I hope all her books get narrated into audiobooks because her stories are superb!

Fantastic narration and another amazing book by FMcFadden!
Évalué le: 2022-11-05
The narration for this book was absolutely perfect. It was so convincing and all of her characters’ voices were just spot on. I truly felt like I was reading nonfiction and was feeling so sorry for the main character. I have never listened to a book so quickly before, but I was dying to know what was going to happen. I don’t know how this author does it, but she has all these crazy ideas in her head and every single book she writes is just absolutely perfect lol. That was the 4th one I’ve read in a row by her and tomorrow I will be starting a 5th! If you want a fast-paced domestic thriller that is disturbing but not diabolical, without explicit sex scenes or gratuitous violence, you have to listen to this authors books. They are all excellent!

Alison Crawchuk is a TERRRRRIBLE NARRATOR
Évalué le: 2022-11-01
I’m sorry, but this story was totally ruined by the narrator. That was the absolute worst audiobook narration I have ever heard. She was practically whispering almost the whole book so I had to blast the volume to be able to understand what she was saying. It sounded like she was either doing this recording in her apartment and didn’t want any neighbours to hear or she was talking like she was whispering secrets in somebody’s ear. It was the strangest strangest narration and I’m so disappointed to see that my favourite author Freida McFadden has used the same narrator for a few of her books ugh! Please Audible, do not have this narrator doing any more books. She really truly ruins them. I’m sure she’s a perfectly nice person, but she’s not meant to be a narrator. Her voice is just very strange, she’s insanely soft-spoken, but not a talented actress type who can act out different parts and make the book come alive. This is not one of her skills I’m sorry to say. Pleeeease.
5/5 stars for the story because all of Freida McFadden’s stories are excellent IMO, 1/5 stars for the performance and therefore 3/5 overall sadly.

ANOTHER FANTASTIC BOOK BY FREIDA MCFADDEN!!
Évalué le: 2022-10-26
I bought the paper back, but I had extra credits on audible so purchased the audio book as well for jogging and driving. I loved the narrator’s performance so much that I actually would read the book while listening to the Audible version so that we could “read” together. The narration was absolutely perfect, her voice was so nice and she did a brilliant job with every single character. Most of them sounded like a totally different person. So thank you narrator you were just fabulous! Here’s my review on the book:
OK I am officially a super fan of Freida McFadden’s!! I LOOOOOOVE this author soooooo much!! I first read The Housemaid which blew me away and now this book which was just as fantastic!! How does she have all these amazing story lines living in her head??? And her sense of humour is exactly like mine, she just totally cracks me up with all her funny comments and scenarios. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 All of her strange storylines and funny scenes are right up my alley, it’s like this author was born just to entertain me haha.
About the characters, I felt so sorry for Charly during her recovery and hated her husband with a passion. I was a little bit annoyed how Charly was kind of dumb and gullible and a total push-over when it came to her evil husband (I found myself shouting at the book, Charly, how can you be so stupid??? But besides that, everything else was just absolutely perfect. Please never stop writing Freida. And by the way, I have not read the same author back to back for about five years I’d say??? But tomorrow I’m starting my third in a row Freida McFadden book: The Surrogate Mother.
Please everyone do yourself a favour and read one of her books. ❤️ 📚

Évalué le: 2022-10-15
I could not wait to be finished this book. I bought the paperback based on the great reviews, but found it so boring that I realized there was no way I could actually “read” this book at typical speed, so I turned to Audible and listened to it at 1.5 to 2 x speed. Even at double speed I was dying for this book to be over, but I have a personal rule to always finish a book I start. This book was so stupid and dull and all I wanted to know was who had raped Emily and killed her. That’s literally all I cared about and it took waaaaay too long to get there. It was a very unsatisfying ending as well. I don’t know why this author has such a huge following as I find her to be such an average writer. This was a 2.5 for me, but I’m rounding it down to 2 because I actually quite detested this. (I generally dislike detective stories in general I must mention, because I find them to be quite formulaic with the same cast of characters etc.)

OK first I just want to say that I bought the paperback, but I also had lots of credits on Audible so I wanted to listen while walking the dog, driving the car etc. However, I ended up loving the narration so much that I read the book at home simultaneously while listening to the Audible version!! This narrator was just phenomenal. Here’s my review:
WHAT DID I JUST READ????? What a TOTAL MIND BLOWER!!!! An author has not done this to me in so long I’m telling you!!! This book had more twists than Chubby Checker and more thrills than Six Flags. I honestly can’t even believe that somebody came up with this story. I think Freida McFadden is brilliant, truly!!! This is absolutely my favourite kind of book that I like to read. I felt so engaged with the characters, the story just got juicier and juicier and sped along so nicely. This was my first read by her and I cannot wait to get my hands on every single book this lady has written. She has a really warped mind, surely she must and I am ABSOLUTELY HERE for it!!! Lol❤️❤️❤️❤️😜😜😜😜 📖 📕 📚 📚

I bought the paperback and found it quite difficult, but managed to slog through the first 60% of it. Then I went over to Audible and saw that this was free and decided to download it. It made it much easier for me as I found the book quite hard to muddle through with all the old English. The narration was very good. (I wanted to read it so I could watch the tv series.) I’ve really been enjoying the series, but it’s nothing like the book fyi! The story is quite different in the series and as usual, the book is infinitely better!

Liv Reese wakes up in the back of a taxi with no idea where she is or how she got there. When she’s dropped off at the door of her brownstone, a stranger answers—a stranger who claims to live in her apartment. She reaches for her phone to call for help, only to discover it’s missing. In its place is a bloodstained knife. Her hands are covered in scribbled messages, like graffiti on her skin: STAY AWAKE. Two years ago, Liv was thriving as a successful writer for a trendy magazine. Now, she’s lost and disoriented in a New York City that looks nothing like what she remembers.

Liv’s narrator was soooo painfully bad. She talked so slow that I actually had it on 1.5 speed nearly the whole book and in some parts I was at 2.3 speed I am not kidding you!!! I also was just dying to get through this book because it was so so bad. Judging by the good reviews on Goodreads, honestly what is going on with people???? How can this book have such a high rating??? I’m really concerned that so many people are this (I don’t want to say anything mean here) ??? But how can anyone think this was great?? How can anyone think this was above a 2???? This was so annoyingly stupid, repetitive, idiotic you name it as well as sooooo frustrating. Every two seconds Liv would look at her wrist and say, “It says stay awake on my wrist. I’m so confused.” It dragged on and on and on and on and on much like this sentence. And whenever she would be about to get answers, she would run out of there like a bat out of hell. It made zero sense. She was constantly running and yet wondering what’s going on? Nothing ever happened and honestly it was 300 pages too long to find out who the actual murderer was. I picked this book up at the airport because I was intrigued by the cover. I know that is a poor reason to pick up a book but I was in a big rush. Then I find out that the book is really about someone with a medical condition. This was not a mystery, nor a thriller, nor suspenseful, this was an absolute bore and torturous to finish. I only did so because I never give up on books. And big spoiler here: I’m really getting tired of hearing that the murderer or the bad guy in the book is actually a brilliant surgeon or dedicated doctor irl. Like come on. That is so stupid.
