Histoire
When a troubled young man named Billy asks Cormoran Strike to help him investigate a crime he witnessed as a child, the private eye is left deeply troubled. While Billy is obviously mentally distressed and cannot remember many concrete details, there is something sincere about him and his story. But before Strike can question him further, Billy bolts from his office in a panic.

Always a trear
Évalué le: 2019-08-19
While the story was not as exciting in terms of action and mystery solving as the previous novels, I thoroughly enjoyed taking a small detour in exploring the relationships that had been built up in the past.
I can't wait for the next book!

Histoire
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.

Histoire
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Such a Treat to Read!

This is not my usual genre to pick when browsing books, but boy am I glad I gave it a chance! Eleanor is quirky in her own adorable way that yes, does get taking used to; but when you start to really learn about her life you can't help but learn to love her! Her story has taken me from laughter to tears within a chapter. The performance was also perfect (it did get some taking used to with the accent) and she brought life to Eleanor.

Histoire
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Fascinating

I have been looking to delve into a fantasy genre for a while and this book did not disappoint! The world building, story telling and characters are all exciting and fresh! Each character plays an important role. Listening to this while driving and commuting makes time pass by so quickly that I don't want to get out of the car! A definite recommend. I can't wait to get into the second book :) #audible1

Histoire
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Never disappointed with Stephen King! The Outsider kept me intrigued from beginning to end and more than once, would send shivers down my spine. Not to mention, Will Patton did an amazing job narrating. The choices he makes to voice each character is so fitting and distinct. Definitely played a big role to the enjoyment of this book. A definite recommend!
