I am all up for corny and cheesy... but this takes the cake. I liked the characters but towards the end Syndney got really annoying. I dont know what else she could want. The love scene at the end was a bit much... what i want to know is what kind of earplugs those were because I want a pair....
overall it was good but too much.

this feels like a soap. which is exactly what I was looking for. We did not get a while lot of answers in this, more of a slight continuation (if that makes any sense) I wish it was longer. Looking forward to the conclusion.
As an audiobook, the reader was great.

my husband is just recently into book and he wanted to listen to this one. I was excited as we could both listen and "compare" notes. the premise looked good but I feel a tad disappointed. Not as edgy as I thought and predictable.

WOW... what can i say. This intensely human book was amazing.
This is my first book by this author. It is said somewhere that he poured the best of himself into this book. My gosh.
Odie is a fantastic storyteller and harmonica player. He is a caucasian male with his brother in a residential school in the US. They are orphans and the only place they could go was there. Awful things happen. The book is the story about Odie and his brother finding themselves during very hard economic times. You see what people have to do to survive.
For the last few years i have been learning about residential schools in canada. I had no idea that it was a thing and the horrific things that happened. I feel awful and need to educate myself. I work with first nation and need to be aware of possible trauma from generations and generations.

It was an audiobook for me. I didnt like all the different voices. It was very soft spoken and so slow....
Story wise.
It is a very thought provoking subject but it was slow and not edgy or suspenseful. Dont get me wrong, a baby died and that is horrible. I cant put myself in her shoes and I'm not a big fan of reading about kids death or torture but she I didnt like it very much.

** spoiler alert ** I feel this was a waste of time. The story didn't go anywhere and it wasn't about much... I just felt horrible about the end. I think that she just put that ending there as a filler. I feel horrible that she chose that ending...

Good book, a tad slow. LOTS of character development. The author covered the main characters perspective so well but she didnt really go into detail about Ana. Why did she do those things, whatvwas her role in the war.
