In the middle of efforts to establish a proper school, Eli Hearthsong finds himself caught between a rock and a hard place when Last Stop is flooded by religious refugees, people who lost their gods in the final battle with the Demon Lord. They've heard rumors of a System Prophet, and hope that this unheard of Class can fix their broken skills and abilities.

another amazing addition to the series
Évalué le: 2024-12-11
the story continues to follow heart song and his family. the people are absolutely brilliantly put forth and the content is again very enjoyable. the story is expansive and heart wrenching as well. this time the orphanage/ academy and small village face a very very big danger. one that they have to figure out before it's too late. Eli gets challenged in more ways than he could imagine especially for being such a high level enchanter. this will be something that he has never had to face before.
yes again his school is threatened, Yes again the town is threatened. but again and even more dangerously so, the children are threatened... and "Pappa" Heartsong is determined to keep as many alive and the dangers away until it boils over... you got the ladies are determined to make sure that he does not go too far. it has yet again another amazing story. cannot wait till 5 comes out. on audio.
these two voice actors are absolutely perfect for their rules. so I will have to deduct points that a couple of times just because of how many characters she has to take on. she's mixed up Alluria and Rosemary or Rosemary and Briee's voices a few times.

it is part of a filled genre but one I've enjoyed
Évalué le: 2024-09-17
so the book follows the weakest Summit is not really the weakest Summit falls along the same ideas as similar named titles or even that fairly popular light novel in manga turned anime Arfurita? (sorry I can't spell the name) but it follows along with him and his unique summons as he goes on a self-learning spree while just trying to be the best person he can be.
I've enjoyed the book multiple times over the last couple years. kind of wish that more of the books would be omnibuses but I'm not going to complain on that.
the World building is unique and believable. some parts are absolutely unbelievable. but we the reader / listener are finding out about some of these things the same time as some of the characters..
I have a biases towards well voiced male female parts and overall the voice actors do really well in making sure you know who is the voice to who.
it is a harem/coming of age/finding oneself series.
the interpersonal relationships are there. but not so hot and heavy that it takes away from the storyline. cute characters, lovely mother figure.. lots of laughs and self exploration.
it may be for you it may not be for you. but as a OTR. it's something that I can smile and laugh a while putting stupid kilometers on the road every day.

Histoire
After the Culling, peace has returned and life at the orphanage is quiet one more. Eli finds himself investigating the mystery of a student's new Class, which seems related to the System itself, as well as dealing with the nuances of his unique relationship with the women of the school. When word arrives that the newly formed kingdoms are looking to track down the legendary Impaler, Eli realizes that the past will no longer stay buried and it's time to revive a project that he swore he would never touch again: Project Cerberus.

a great roller coaster of a ride
Évalué le: 2024-04-02
Eli and The orphanage can you work along some very very challenging times. maiori continues to learn about her interesting little ability and uses it several times to cause some trouble and also to save everyone. Eli finally sees towards the end what he really should be doing. and boy howdy we get to see Mama Bear in action. and even though Eli is very very powerful. towards the end we will see a very different side of him.
the voice actors are quite good at what they do. sometimes it's a little bit of a challenge to understand who is who for a half moment but that is just due to the fact that there's only two of them and they're all doing six to eight voices minimum.
if more do come along for the book series then I am all for it. but the ending of this book allows the series to close out while still on a cliffhanger quite well.

Histoire
After surviving a harsh winter, Eli finds himself in a unique situation when a long-lost dungeon is discovered on the property. It could be the perfect proving ground for the students who have earned their Class, but it could also become their tomb. It also doesn't help that the town of Last Stop is in danger. The Edgelands are creeping in and gobbling up entire cities overnight. With nowhere else to take the children, it's up to Eli to come up with a solution to both problems that only a Master Enchanter could accomplish. With the love of a few good women by his side, anything is possible.

book two expansion and village appreciation
Évalué le: 2024-03-28
some of the kids are a little bit older and a little bit happier. other kids my goodness. little Miori is an absolute troublemaker but is also very important piece of the puzzle working to keep our main character Eli in some form of mental stability.
the orphanage goes through a number of major changes and so do the supporting women. while they are still more of a somewhat sideline set of characters. they are by no means weak....
these two voice actors are very good at what they do and bring gravity quite well to the characters and the situations that they find themselves in. going to the third book!

The Demon Lord is dead. The System is broken. Somehow, Elias Hearthsong is neither of these things, despite being at the final battle of the Demon Wars. He is a Master Enchanter, perhaps the last one alive. Determined to keep a promise, he crosses the continent to protect his dead friend's legacy: a crumbling orphanage run by a beautiful kitsune. He isn't a teacher, nor does he have experience with children. But with the love of a few good women, anything can become possible.

world building on point
Évalué le: 2024-03-27
the world building of these two authors combined is absolutely on point. there are a number of supporting characters in this story that you just cannot help but feel for. I was laughing and crying at different times for the little girl Maori.. towards the end of the book you will find why I felt like I was heartbroken for this little girl. the romantic tension between Eli and the ladies is there and while quick for the first one it builds respectively throughout the book and there are only I think three chapters in this with the (m) subset. and while mature. it is not over the top..... I appreciate the voice actors and their absolute stunning ability to bring the book to Life. I am a delivery driver so I can usually listen to a full book per day easily and this is another series that I will listen on repeat through Time Memorial I hope. on to the next book!

the last few people that needed to be properly inducted into the harem are and Zach just does his dragon lord duties and rips anything and everything bad to pieces. and does a very very good job of holding himself back in multiple situations. gold is not something walk away from. and at the end of the series we get to see more of grandmother Tia and how many heart attacks she can give the family. I find it hilarious...
funny to think and see just how much chaos can happen in a few years from young adult entering college into being the Dragon King, king of hell, King of the fairie... sorry emperor....
and I do love the way Bruce ends these types of books.
the voice actors do great and even though there are more voices for them to have to try and come up with near the end they have fun with it. this will be another one of my multi listen through series

Histoire
It was supposed to be a medical marvel. Instead, it triggered the apocalypse. Half of humanity mutated into mindless zombies. Half the survivors mutated into the inhumans: various new species of people with new appearances and abilities. Some grew scales, some grew fur, some could fly, some could survive only underwater. Decades passed, and from the ashes of the old world, a new patchwork civilization rose. Humans and inhumans lived in tentative peace, and the zombies turned out to be not much of a threat once a few generations of survivors had come and gone.

... the voice actor she did pretty good with the material that she's got in front of her though this feels like a setup for failure.
story-wise it is a flop....
excessive use of the same words, apocalypse world where everybody still has easy access to firearms? that have been out of production if for decades?
MC enters an area... meets a girl .....bones her...meets a girl .....bones her... saves a few people, scrounged like a scavenger should.. meets a girl .....bones her...meets a girl .....bones her...
the story would have potential as a quote unquote gentleman's novel or a harem adventure if there was more adventure and planning and not every second page bed sheet wrestling. the world base has potential. but I tried. I went through what best thing would consider the entire first book. I even started a couple chapters in the second book but you can only listen to so much without it being repetitive.

what a way to finish!!!
Évalué le: 2023-11-22
it is done! holy crow what a way to finish. the final tower is here! though it is a little rushed the final chapter has many ups and downs, closures to story arcs, twists and turns that were hinted at and closed cleanly.... the end... tears, anger, joy, more tears, hope....
the fighting is choreographed well as normal, though as per the rest of the books... some tower given items were forgotten on how they were supposed to handle...
A book 4 threat returns...but because of Rin's rise through the ascensions. the threat while still dire has a few options to be done about it...
the CA's do well like normal but haha... both of them forget how a few characters are voiced a few times throughout so you can be small confused for a moment...
overall another great listen... and though it took this long to get here... the adventure is over too soon....
thank you for the story. thank you to the VA's for their hardwork... and thank you to the publisher to get the story out there.

the soundbooth team is as always phenomenal with their voice acting and I do absolutely love the fact that there are extra sounds and audio placed in. this is definitely a book worth reading and listening to if you can get your hands on it together.
our favorite Lord Toon definitely continues to have his work cut out for him. but the support of everybody around him is making it work a little bit better all the time. and the fact that we get to see more and more of certain characters is amazing. a number of them I've been rooting to get better closure from book 3.
we get to see more intrigue and combat and just what his Majesty Ignis's plan for Hector truly is and was. and I'm here for it every single step of the way.
