If you love to work or play on, in or near waterways join us and learn about low head dams. Low-head dams (LHD) span river channels and raise the upstream water level just enough to divert water from the river for beneficial use. These LHD present a drowning danger to the public and an obstruction to free upstream passage for fish and other aquatic organisms. This webinar will explain LHD functions and highlight challenges from a stream connectivity and public safety viewpoint. A progress report on current efforts to create a national low-head dam inventory and an effort to compile a national database of stream barriers will be highlighted.
