GPS
Hi Tom, I was near you at Epping Green last night, recording my route of course. I've not tried BeeLineGPS, but have installed their VisualGPSce, It doesn't seem to offer much in the way of trace options, so I'm using the free Outdoor-gps. Perhaps you can review the software in an OSM context. I'm compiling a list of the ideal features for OSM GPS software on my user page. Steevc 10:35, 16 October 2006 (BST)
I've added a few comments on my experience with BeeLineGPS now - I have also loaded outdoor-gps but haven't tried it in anger yet - it seemed a bit clunky from my brief attempt to work out the UI though. I seemed to have to turn on GPS monitoring on the first tab each time I started it as well as going to the second tab and starting a log. It also didn't seem to have an option to disable auto poweroff while it was running, and wouldn't accept COM0 for the GPS port so I had to move my GPS to COM7 and reconfigure BeeLineGPS and TomTom... --TomH 12:52, 18 October 2006 (BST)
'tilegen' server
Yeah I added 'tilegen' to the Servers page a little while ago. The reason I thought it must exist is, the Platform Status page mentions it, but also munin doesn't barf on this URL: http://munin.openstreetmap.org/openstreetmap/tilegen.openstreetmap.html (although it doesn't show a right lot of data either) Maybe a machine was called 'tilegen' for a short time before being renamed something else.
Anyway... should we also remove from "Platform Status" page? or would you say that is referring to a tilegen "service" running on 'tile'?
If that page is split by "service", some of the tiles@home activities running on dev, could probably be listed as seperate services I suppose.

- I think tilegen is an old name for one of the other machines, hence the confusion. Like you say tile now does tile generate as well as serving them. TomH 11:35, 12 September 2007 (BST)
Slippy map BBOX URLs question
You added a form of URL which lets you specify by bounding box. But I can't get that to work for me. This URL for example, I would expect to show me a zoomed in spot in South East London: http://www.openstreetmap.org/index.html?minlat=51.1737&maxlat=51.68085&minlon=-0.55307&maxlon=0.00936

- That URL looks like it works to me - in my browser at least you get rather more longitude than you wanted in order to get the full range of latitude values in but other than that it looks good. What are you seeing?

- Ah. I'm using a cruddy old I.E.6 browser at work. It works ok firefox.
- In I.E.6 I'm seeing a fully zoomed out default whole world view. No JS errors to report. Ah well. Hopefuly I.E.7 handles it better.
