On September 17-18, 2024, Daniël Stork ,the Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City 🇳🇱, and Ingrid Korving , the Agricultural Counsellor for Vietnam from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Hanoi, visited Lam Dong Province 🇻🇳. During their visit, they held a courtesy meeting 🤝 with Mr. Pham S., Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong People’s Committee, along with leaders from several provincial departments. The meeting highlighted the ongoing collaboration 🌿 between Lam Dong and the Netherlands, particularly in the horticultural sector. The Lam Dong People’s Committee expressed its interest in experience-sharing and learning exchanges, especially in areas such as agricultural innovation 🚜, logistics management in agricultural production, and the protection of plant breeders’ rights 🌱.
On 18 September 2024, one of the Netherlands' leading seed businesses #RijkZwaan celebrated the grand opening 🎉 of its R&D station 📊 in Lam Dong. The R&D station serves as a hub for the entire Southeast Asia region. This reflects Rijk Zwaan’s commitment to advancing sustainable horticulture 🌎 by driving innovation, enhancing seed technologies 🌱, and supporting growers with improved pest and disease tolerance as well as higher yields 🚜.
In his opening speech, Daniël Stork paid his respects to the victims of Yagi typhoon 🌧️, showing the urgency of joining hands to prevent climate change 🌎. He also highlighted the fact that the Netherlands is the number one European investor in Vietnam 🤝 and invited everyone to join the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition taking place on October 21 in Ho Chi Minh City.
