🌱 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 #𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝! Together with Bain & Company, AgriG8, Agriterra, RACO Cooperative, and regional financial institutions, we are setting the groundwork for Grow Asia's #GrowBeyond program. Special thanks to the farmers at RACO Cooperative for their collaboration (and the unforgettable meal!) and to our partners at Visa for their generous support. Transforming food systems is a monumental task requiring sustained partnerships and collective efforts from everyone involved—from farmers and financial institutions to cooperative, governmental, and non-governmental organizations. It's a challenging journey, but one that's worthwhile. GrowBeyond delivers a closed-loop blended finance model designed to address the fragmentation of climate finance. Over the next decade, our goal is to support over 200,000 farmers by providing them with suitable financial products and technical assistance. Through these investments, we aim to boost farm productivity by 20% to 30% and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 30%. #MemberWorkshop: United for the #1millionHectaresProject of Vinh Binh Agriculture Cooperative 📌 Vinh Binh Coop plans to expand its high-quality, #lowemissionrice model from 15.5 hectares in 2024 to 300 hectares in the subsequent season. This initiative is part of a government project aimed at cultivating one million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice in Vietnam, with the objective of reducing national methane emissions by 30% by 2030. This effort was one of four services discussed by 30 core members during the member workshop facilitated by #Agriterra on July 15 and 16, in collaboration with the Cooperative Alliance of An Giang province. The other services include (1) purchasing all paddy rice from members' Fall-Winter crops, (2) providing organic fertilizer and a new smart DAP synthetic fertilizer, and (3) supplying milled rice Mr. Huynh Van Cua, a member of Vinh Binh Coop, reflected on his first experience attending such an event, noting that it significantly enhanced his understanding of the cooperative concept and its business model. He emphasized that the development of the cooperative depends on the support and active participation of its members, stressing that transparency and accountability are vital for reaching these goals. 🤝 Agriterra organized this member workshop to improve participants' understanding of the #cooperative model and their roles within it, with the aim of increasing their commitment and involvement in cooperative activities. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of transforming Vinh Binh Cooperative into a model entity that serves its members, in accordance with the leadership's vision for 2030. Following the workshop, Agriterra will continue to assist the Vinh Binh cooperative by assessing the workshop's effectiveness for its members. Member feedback is essential for Agriterra to determine the support needed to enhance solidarity and improve cooperative operations." #AgriterrainVietnam #forcooperatives #lowemissionrice

"#EmpoweringCooperatives: #Agriterra and #Sorimachi Join Forces to Pilot #DigitalTransformation!" 🤝 To enhance digital transformation and improve governance and business development within the Kien Thanh cooperatives, a key pilot initiative of Agriterra in digital transformation. To expand development into areas including inclusion, #environmentalsustainability, resilience to #climatechange, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in rice production. Agriterra, in collaboration with @Sorimachi, conducted an assignment on June 13-14 to evaluate the awareness and implementation of digital transformation. 📌 The assessment evaluated six (06) key aspects of digital transformation within cooperatives: strategy, members and customers, infrastructure and digital technology, people and organization, culture, and operations. After that, training was conducted on the use of accounting software #WACA and (farmer) #FaceFarm Apps for farmers, and a digital transformation committee was established within the cooperative. Following the implementation of WACA and FaceFarm 🈸 Apps, the cooperative has identified advantages and obstacles in utilizing these tools for governance, production, and #businessdevelopment. Furthermore, a digital transformation committee comprising 14 members was formed, with each member assigned distinct responsibilities. Subsequently, a digital transformation plan was jointly developed by KTC, Agriterra, and Sorimachi for the Summer-Autumn 🌾 rice crop of 2024. This plan includes standardizing and digitizing information (such as production and accounting data) on the Apps, along with follow-up coaching, reflection, and the consolidation of best practices. #AgriterrainVietnam #forcooperatives #DigitalTransformation #Sorimachi

🤩From June 5-10, 2024, Agriterra conducted a #marketsurvey and formulated a #strategicbusinessplan for the Hoa My Soursop Cooperative (HMSC). Situated in an area ideal for soursop production, HMSC has 83 members with over 92 soursop hectares, of which 32 hectares comply with Global GAP standards. Despite favorable conditions, the cooperative faces challenges such as price fluctuations, member commitment, and limited supply chain management. 🛜The survey, conducted with Hau Giang DARD and Agriterra cooperative advisors, revealed significant growth opportunities in Vietnam's soursop market. This growth is driven by the fruit's delicious taste, health benefits, and increasing demand for organic, GlobalGAP-certified products. Domestic consumption is rising by 15-20% annually. Financial analysis indicates HMSC's soursop value chain is profitable with substantial growth potential. Fresh soursop sales account for over 70% of the cooperative's revenue. The 2024-2028 strategic business plan outlines key interventions for HMSC's sustained growth, including expanding GlobalGAP-compliant production, increasing member commitment, product innovation, investing in advanced processing, and enhancing marketing and branding efforts both domestically and internationally. HMSC is a key cooperative in Hau Giang province, supported by #Agriterra under its cooperation with Hau Giang DARD in #sustainableagriculture and #climatechange adaptation project. #agriterra #cooperative #sustainabledevelopment

Between June 12-22, 2024, the #ATVN team, under the Making Aquaculture Cooperative Inclusive and Bankable (MACIB) project funded by the Dutch Government, assessed seven aquaculture cooperatives (one #pangasius and six #shrimp) in the Mekong River Delta provinces of Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Dong Thap, and Ca Mau. The primary goal was to evaluate these cooperatives' business potential and explore future partnerships with Agriterra. Using Agriterra’s Cooperative Assessment tool, nearly 150 members, including directors, managers, supervisors, and key farmers, participated in interviews and group discussions. Key challenges identified were inadequate organizational structure, poor financial management, weak governance, limited access to quality seeds, high feed costs, climate change impacts, rising energy costs, and water pollution. The #ATVN team recommends improving access to quality seeds and feed, introducing solar technology to reduce energy costs, developing climate-smart aquaculture practices, and researching sediment and water quality issues. These efforts require a Public-Private-Producer Partnership (4P) approach and collaboration with regional initiatives. Aligning with the Combitrack investment mechanism, the #EmpowerYouth4Food campaign, and leveraging Dutch aquaculture expertise can enhance sustainability and productivity. Partnering with #ShrimpTech Vietnam to adopt advanced technology and best practices is also advised. Proposed action plans focus on improving organizational structure, enhancing financial management, strengthening governance, engaging 4P partnerships, and embedding climate-smart practices. The assessment results will support a launching workshop in the MRD this August, where stakeholders will discuss the #MACIB project implementation plan. #MACIB Program I Mekong River Delta  #Agriterra VietnamI Le Anh TuanI Tran Quang Dieu I Tran Thanh Trang I Tran Thanh Ha I Le Dac Phuc

Expanding Our Reach: Scoping New Cooperatives for Sustainable Development   As part of the #cooperation agreement between Agriterra and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hau Giang Province to #supportcooperatives under the Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change Adaptation Project, on 12/06/2024, Agriterra conducted a #scoping at Thuan Loi Rice Cooperative and Ky Nhu Fisheries Cooperative. A rapid scoping of potential cooperatives is a crucial step in our strategic approach. With the initial assessment results in hand, Agriterra and the two cooperatives will engage in further discussions to share more in-depth information about their development goals and the detailed conditions for cooperation. This will precede Agriterra's next step: an in-depth #cooperativeassessment (including Business Model, Financial Health, Reputation and Member Commitment of the Cooperative). #Agriterra #SustainableDevelopment #Cooperatives #HauGiang #Agriculture #Aquaculture #Empowerment #CommunityDevelopment

Empowering #Rice Cooperatives with Affordable #Finance through #CropPal Agriterra and AgriG8 have embarked on an ambitious #initiative to empower rice farmers by providing them with affordable financing options. As part of this effort, from 21-23/05/2024, a comprehensive #baseline survey was conducted at 2 rice cooperatives: Rach Lop Coop (RACO) and Phu My Chau Coop (PMCC) to lay the groundwork for a pioneering pilot project: "Enable farmers to access affordable finance for their rice farming via CropPal application" in the Mekong River Delta (MRD). The survey involved 30 farmers, 3 input providers, and 2 rice buyers/processors. Results showed that CropPal not only enhances farm tracking but also offers better-priced inputs through #greenfinanciers facilitated by AgriG8 and Agriterra. In the next step, Agriterra will collaborate with AgriG8 to define the roles of all parties involved in this initiative. Together, we will refine the model’s workflow and develop a comprehensive action plan for this initiative to support 200 farmers in adopting CropPal and #accessingfinance. This initiative aims to boost farmers' productivity and financial stability, showcasing Agriterra and AgriG8's commitment to #sustainableagriculture. #Agriterra #AgriG8 #greenfinance #cooperativedevelopment

Agriterra are deeply honored to collaborate with the Dutch Government on initiatives that bolster agricultural cooperatives and elevate Vietnamese agriculture as a whole. Agriterra takes pride in introducing Dutch expertise, experience, and innovative cooperative models to Vietnam. Our mission is to cultivate sustainable, climate-resilient cooperatives that drive sustainable development, foster youth engagement, and empower women to assume leadership roles.

A large economic mission from the Netherlands came to #Vietnam, in which 40 companies in the #agrifood and #horticulture sectors were led by Minister for Nature and Nitrogen Policy at Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, Ms. Christianne van der Wal. The mission played an important role in the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the Netherlands as 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of our Strategic Partnership Arrangement on sustainable agriculture and food security as well as the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
