Yashmak, Halide Edib Adıvar kiygan

Yashmak, yashmac yoki yasmak (turkcha: yaşmak, „parda“[1]) — ayollarning jamoat joylarida yuzlarini yopish uchun kiyadigan turk va turkman tipidagi roʻmol yoki niqob . Bugungi kunda Turkiyada bu kiyimdan deyarli foydalanilmaydi. Turkmanistonda esa baʼzi turmush qurgan ayollar erining qarindoshlari huzurida kiyishadi[2][3].

  1. From an identical Old Turkic verb meaning indeed „to cover, hide“. The original verb has become obsolete and a new verb, yaşmak-la-mak [segmented ad hoc], „to veil“, has developed.
