Our latest satellite imagery captures the construction of a new jetty, indicative of probable naval infrastructure expansion in Ust-Luga (59.67600, 28.41712). The strategic significance of a new navy port in the Baltic Sea under Russian control cannot be overstated, as it would enhance Russian maritime positioning and operational capabilities in this crucial region.

On May 28, #EarthCare spacecraft was launched into orbit. Satellogic's satellites captured these incredible images moments after it successfully deployed its solar panel in orbit. Happy to keep transforming in-space servicing along with HEO.
These are the very first images of EarthCare in space. From our network of space-based sensors, we captured European Space Agency - ESA and JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's new satellite moments after it successfully deployed its solar panel in orbit. Satellite identification means mission success. We’re excited to see the contributions EarthCare will make to help us better understand our home world 🌍 #NonEarthImaging #NEI #Space #SpaceAwareness #SpaceDomain #Satellite #SatelliteImage #SatelliteIdentification

We are excited to present a time-lapse GIF showcasing the significant expansion of the Korla High Altitude Balloon Facility near Bosten Lake, Xinjiang, China. This extensive site, now exceeding 1000ft in length and 450ft in width, is undergoing considerable development. Our imagery captures the impressive scale of the extension and the open hanger doors, highlighting the ongoing construction. This facility is thought to house stratospheric airships used for meteorological measurements, among other purposes. For a detailed analysis, read more: https://lnkd.in/dBtGA7ue

Recently Gerardo Richarte, co-founder and CIO, spoke with Geo Week News about “Why Satellogic Released Six Million Images for Free”. Gerardo highlighted a crucial challenge we’ve found in the field of training Vision Language Models (VLMs) with satellite imagery: while VLMs excel with general images, they often fall short when it comes to high-resolution satellite images. Even models trained on satellite data typically use lower-resolution datasets, such as Sentinel's 10-meter resolution, which are insufficient for detecting finer details visible in Satellogic’s high-resolution images. So why did we release all this data? “We expect people to start publishing models, right? When the end user wants to use those models, they really want to run them on fresh data,” Gerardo Richarte. We're committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible with satellite technology. Our continuous innovation ensures that we deliver the highest quality data to our customers, helping them see the world in unprecedented detail. For more on how we’re making high-resolution satellite imagery accessible for AI model development, check out the latest news on our open data release. Read More: https://lnkd.in/e5Y_VRzc
Last month, Satellogic announced the release of six million images from their satellites in a massive open data release, all available on Hugging Face. Geo Week News recently spoke with Gerardo Richarte about the rationale behind the release - both in terms of the greater good and how the company itself stands to benefit. #earthobservation #AI #data #opendata #satelliteimagery #VLMs
