Usopedia(日本語:ウソペディア) is a Japanese wiki of humor and nonsense, and is a sister wiki candidate of Illogicopedia.
A brief history[edit]
Blocked on Japanese Uncyclopedia, where blocking is more preferred to creating articles because they believe in the Big Brother and his dictatorship, the founder, actually a gaming console[1], has decided to create another website of humor and nonsense, truely made in Japan, like Toyota and Nissan did in the past, against Ford and General Motors.
It used to be Miipedia, and WiiUpedia (abbreviation: Upedia) in the past, you know, because it was funded by Nintendo and its users, especially users of WiiU.
Following the tradition of Uncyclopedia claiming itself as the parody of Wikipedia, it used to claim itself as the parody of Yourpedia[2], a Japanese wiki full of subjective and modified truth that Wikipedia can never host.
However, users from Uncyclopedia and other websites came in a horde, and since the founder could no longer manage the wiki alone, its name was changed to Usopedia, the current name. It means, "Encyclopedia full of lies," and being a liar (or being illogical) was then considered to be more important than being a humorous contributor. This made it possible for Usopedians, the users of Usopedia, to post delusional articles like The Country of Nobita, which is not even claimed to be a parody/satire of Japan, and so boring that Uncyclopedians would add an NRV template within 10 seconds or so. In fact, it was the founder himself who wrote the largest number of delusions.
However, another horde of new comers came in around 2017 ~ 2018, most of them being zombies of Japanese Uncyclopedia, and found out some articles full of delusion actually suck, they started to modernize the wiki. They started to host contests to create more humorous articles, created the original VFH system, and now running as a candidate sister wiki of Illogicopedia.
Combating Vandalism[edit]
Like its probably-future sister wiki Illogicopedia, Usopedia suffers from Vandalism, mainly coming from Japanese Wikipedia and Uncyclopedia. This is partly because the founder himself was a vandal in the past, but mainly because the vandals regard Usopedia to be more important than Wikipedia and Uncyclopedia, because, in fact, Usopedia is now growing more rapidly than Japanese Uncyclopedia, with a better sense of humor, and most of the delusional articles have been removed through the modernization process.
Some of the vandals in Usopedia like having themselves blocked by the AbuseFilter, which is rather unique compared to vandals in other wikis, where vandals make actions with massive damage, appearing on RecentChanges. I guess these vandals know how to act in a nonsensical way[3], and trying to be humorous at the same time acting as a vandal.
However, this isn't always the case, and sometimes massive vandals also appear. Such vandals tend to act as if they are robots, and I'm sure they would never pass the Turing test, indeed.
Users[edit]
Probably because the founder himself is a gaming console, most of the users are not human. Some of their claims are: a germ, a train, an app for iPhone, or even a programming language. The users are called Usopedians, and most of them speak Japanese and Engrish[4], but due to the recent relationship between Illogicopedia, some are also able to speak English.
The great firewall of nonsense[edit]
Usopedia suffers from a firewall of nonsense being displayed on some pages, when accessing through Mac, iPhone, or Internet Explorer. This is probably because they host too many nerdy lies for mac users or IE users, and only people otaku enough to use Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera on PC can currently see all pages successfully.
Migrating to Miraheze[edit]
Usopedia was running on an independent server, but because the Japanese made it illegal to donate to websites hosted in Japan, it ran out of running costs. So now WiiU, acting as if he were the Japanese version of Oscar Wilde, died[5]. Again. This made it necessary for Usopedians to seek for a greater land that nurtures their sense of humor and nonsense[6], and found out that Miraheze might be the best place, like the Polish Uncyclopedia[7]. So now, some of them run a beta version on Miraheze, and is currently free of vandals, but also free of new contributors.
Or so it was. Now that the new wiki on Miraheze has become the new official version, and vandals followed, but some of the editors just dropped out. I guess Usopedia needs more users to make the new light bulb website function properly.
