Uncyclopedia:Pee Review/Wikipedia Main Page
Wikipedia Main Page[edit]
Hi, I'm nervous again, for what is this, my fourth submission to the mercy of your pee? Anyway I think this idea is slightly original, as far as I know, but if it's been done before I'm a self-declared idiot... Erm yeah, also I plan to ask dad to change the top-left-hand-corner-logo-thing to the Wikipedia one sometime after this pee review... I just wanna see if I've er, what's the phrase, I dunno, "mis-fired" with this one, or not. Anyway thanks!

Humour: | 5 | Mostly this page wants to scream "Hi, I'm Wikipedia. And I'm a generic nazi loving website" at the top of it's lungs. Mostly because of the over-the-top Nazi look. This is my opinion but generally I dislike the naziness of the page because of the fact that Wikipedia is supposed to be a mix of regulations and open contributions. Not a restricted place where some pieces of art are classified as forbidden, keep that in mind when reading what I have to say. What I'm suggesting is to tone down the nazi stuff a lot and try to mix Wikipedia's enforcement of policies, their strict standards, and their willingness to keep it perfect. Also try to parody their vast projects that they have. Base your inspiration on "Logan's Run". If you haven't seen Logan's Run. Go rent it at Blockbuster and watch it through. It's a great example of a controlled colony without all of the Nazism. |
Concept: | 4 | Again, same point as above. I applaud your effort trying to make a Wikipedia Main Page but as before, it says. "Welcome to Nazipedia, The opression-free encyclopedia that only Germany can edit" Again, take the advice I said in the humor section. And take the time to read the Wikipedia article. Make sure you read it closely and thoroughly. |
Prose and formatting: | 6 | I have to say, you made good use of the templates here, it looks almost like the Wikipedia page, but you insert some words of wisdom or a feature who's good on the outside and bad on the inside. |
Images: | 5 | I do sorta like the Wikipedia flag you made. But all other icons just feel to over-the-top naziish. Try to replace most of the pictures and icons with a mix of Wikipedia and something from Logan's Run. That's all |

Comments[edit]
This has potential but it's being hared by all of the nazi references, and if you read the sections. You'll see that I suggest you remove the Nazi stuff, it just doesn't work here. Here's a good few guides that you might want to look at, HTBFANJS contains a lot of tips relating to humor, use that as a reference. You can also use the featured articles as a reference also. Why?, because a lot of the featured articles are good and touch on a lot of subjects, values, and various types of humor you'll find useful in the future. Don't forget to get around to watching "Logan's Run" It should give you a general idea about what Wikipedia is. If you have any comments, leave them on my talk page. I wish your babel page the best of luck in the future. --User:The Improver/sig19:25, Apr 20 2008 (UTC)
- Have to cut in and add a few comments of my own here. Sorry Improver, I'm not trying to tread on your toes! However, I would have given a higher score to the prose and formatting for starters, and the images section. There's quite a bit of work been put in here to try and make the look match the concept, and at the very least that needs recognising. I also think that the concept is quite good, but could be handled a little more subtly - toning down the Nazi references without removing them, possibly replacing the "lies" links with something more fitting to a police state ("Glorious Truths", that kind of thing). But in general, I think this is not a bad stab at all at WP's increasingly controlling feel (rightly or wrongly) and as such I reckon this review is fairly harsh. Still, it is in good faith, and I'm not trying to criticise the reviewer - as I always say, reviews are only one person's opinion, and others are available, which is why I'm offering a second one here. --SirU.U.Esq. - Hey thanks for the second opinion: I like the "Glorious Truths" idea (which I'll go and change now) but I'm torn, do I go down Mr. Improver's suggested route or down yonder UU road? What do I do, OH THE PRESSURE! - 04:36 21 AprilSir FSt. (QotF BFF NotM) YTTE
- I think you should follow both roads. We have opinions and most of them can help your article. I just dislike the Nazi feel to it as I feel that Nazi has been overused. Mostly in addition to my comments. Try to add a "Big Brother" feel where people feel like Jimbo Wales is constantly watching you, that should add to the feel of a tightly controlled civilization. Also make sure to read up on all or some of the policies they have to get a feel for that tightly controlled civilization feeling you'll place in that article. --User:The Improver/sig16:04, Apr 21 2008 (UTC)
- Specific example of overpolicying: There is some page over there with 750 words about how to properly use dashes. - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon (Tick Tock) (Contribs) 16:26, Apr 21
