Meet the shortlist: LandWorks makes the #CharityAwards shortlist for providing a safe and supportive halfway house between prison and the community. In 2022-23, the employment rate for economically active LandWorks graduates was 94%, whereas only 30% of adults leaving prison are in employment within the first six months of their release. And the reoffending rate is just 5.2% – far lower than the national rate of 37% for adults released from custody. More about their work here: https://lnkd.in/eTU9tDU4

Meet the shortlist: Justice and Care join the #CharityAwards shortlist for supporting survivors of modern slavery in the UK. Its Victim Navigator Programme has supported 540 survivors with holistic care plans, that include direct emotional support and support to access accommodation, financial support, legal advice, mental health services, education and employment. Meet the shortlist: SolarAid joins the #CharityAwards shortlist for its Light a Village project which aims to install free solar systems in every Malawian household. So far they have installed 2,500 solar home systems that have allowed an estimated 10,000 people and 12 schools to access electricity. Meet the shortlist: Reprieve is on the #CharityAwards shortlist for its work to spare people from death row in Malawi. Not only did the Malawi Resentencing Project improve access to justice for some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in Malawi, but it also created support and momentum to abolish the death penalty among the country’s government, judiciary and public.
