We have successfully completed an upgrade in the VRT News Studio in collaboration with Ross Video. The goal was to renew the robotic cameras without interrupting the news broadcasts. The news must go on, as the world never stands still. To accomplish this challenging task, we began preparations several weeks in advance in a neighboring studio. The steps involved were: - Setup and Testing: The new cameras and mobile robots were fully assembled and tested. - Connectivity: Livepower, in collaboration with VRT, designed custom-built Connection Boxes to neatly integrate all necessary equipment on the dolly. - Training: Operators and technical staff received comprehensive training to operate the new equipment. The actual upgrade took place at night to avoid disrupting regular news broadcasts. The plan was to replace one robot each night, and this schedule was executed flawlessly. This resulted in a seamless transition, with the audience unaware of any technical work. That was precisely the goal! The upgraded setup includes: - 4 Sony p31 cameras - 3 Ross Furio SE Dollies with SE lift and VR600 head - 1 Ross Furio SE Dolly with S2 lift and VR600 head - 4 custom-built Connection Boxes for integrating equipment Thanks to this meticulous planning and execution, we have equipped the VRT News Studio with state-of-the-art technology, ensuring uninterrupted news broadcasts. #DigiNet #Ross #VRT
