OpenAI is testing a new search engine that uses generative artificial intelligence to produce results, raising the prospect of a significant challenge to Google’s dominance of the online search market. Integrating generative AI into search engines has become something of an arms race among tech companies, even as AI has a track record of producing inaccurate results and posing copyright concerns. “Getting answers on the web can take a lot of effort, often requiring multiple attempts to get relevant results,” OpenAI said in a blogpost which hailed “a new way” to search. “We believe that by enhancing the conversational capabilities of our models with real-time information from the web, finding what you’re looking for can be faster and easier.” https://lnkd.in/eQuxUwZa #AIHWEdgeAISummit #AI #EdgeAI #Innovation #AIHardware

Legal tech company Clio - Cloud-Based Legal Technology raised $900 million in a Series F funding round, bringing its valuation to $3 billion. Clio aims to help law practices run more efficiently with its cloud-based technology. This round, led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), included significant participation from investors such as Goldman Sachs Asset Management, CapitalG, and Tidemark. Blackstone's CEO predicts $2 trillion in projected capital expenditure in data center development globally over the next five years. CEO Stephen A. Schwarzman said, "Our portfolio today consists of $55bn of data centers, including facilities under construction, along with over $70bn in prospective pipeline development." "The need to provide power for these data centers is a major contributor to an expected 40 percent increase in electricity demand in the United States over the next decade compared to minimal growth in the last decade."
