The Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) has set aside an ICC award against an Indian freight network company for a breach of natural justice, finding that the tribunal – whose chair had presided over two earlier parallel proceedings – had substantially “copied-and-pasted” sections from the other awards. Susannah Moody reports.

David Brynmor Thomas KC is to leave 39 Essex after 13 years to become a full time arbitrator and mediator, with his practice managed by NEWMANS ROW, the new London-based outfit set up by Sir Bernard Eder and former Essex Court Chambers clerk Rachel Newman. 

Nine panels have formed at ICSID in recent weeks, including first-time appointments at the centre for Australian arbitrator Lucy Martinez and the former Chief Justice of Canada Beverley McLachlin. Toby F. reports.

Iberdrola is facing a US$535 million claim from Singaporean LNG company Pavilion Energy, while the Spanish utility has also filed a €12.6 million arbitration against a Portuguese energy company over two Polish wind farms it acquired last year. Susannah Moody reports.
