About us

The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Connectivity and Secure Communications promotes the combined use of space-based systems, leading the development and competitiveness of ESA Member States’ satellite communications industries by assisting in the production of advanced technologies and concepts to develop world-class products and services. There are four main programmes in ESA’s Connectivity and Secure Communications directorate: • ARTES and ARTES 4.0 • Civil Security from Space • Moonlight • ESA Programme related to EU Secure Connectivity Responsible for coordinating, shaping and supporting innovation in satellite telecommunications, ESA’s Connectivity and Secure Communications directorate facilitates research and development activities while forging industrial partnerships. Space capabilities enable services which benefit society every day and on a global and local scale. They improve education in rural areas, provide remote healthcare, assist search and rescue and monitor natural resources and the environment.
