𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Earlier this month, CABI PlantwisePlus hosted a workshop for the Department of Plant Protection in Karachi, Pakistan. This crucial meeting from 3-5 September brought together dedicated plant protection professionals to work towards a safer and more resilient agricultural future. The workshop achieved significant progress towards its three main objectives: 1️⃣Establishing a pest risk register for Pakistan 2️⃣Creating a mechanism to manage the pest risk register effectively 3️⃣Planning the next steps for sustained action Key outcomes included an agreement on the overall structure of the register and proposed mechanisms for its management, which is essential in helping Pakistan target prevention and preparedness for the highest-risk pests. The next steps involve the formal establishment of a risk register management group and setting up robust processes to keep the register up-to-date. CABI will also begin providing pest risk monitoring reports to support these efforts. We are grateful for the support and participation of all involved, including Dr. Muhammad Tariq Khan, Director General of the NPPO. In partnership, we’re building a more resilient plant health system for Pakistan.
