📢Exciting news! We are thrilled to announce the launch of BESA #NextGen Network, we are a group dedicated to supporting those starting careers in the building services sector. At BESA, we understand the challenges that engineers face as they navigate the early stages of their careers. That's why we have created this group to provide a supportive community, and networking opportunities for those just starting out in the sector. Ryan Walton MInstR, Chair of the Network has said “It is a real honour and a great opportunity to work with my fellow young engineers through this exciting initiative,” he said. “We have a lot to offer the Association and the wider industry, but it is often hard for us to make our collective voice heard." “It can also be an intimidating experience for younger people to network with older, more experienced engineers, particularly when they are just finding their feet in the industry. So, we believe having our own community will help us develop our own priorities and then use BESA’s established and respected platform to help shape the industry’s agenda.” So if you're new to the industry, whether you're an engineer, or working hard behind the scenes, we invite you to join us and be part of the #NextGen and together, we can inspire and connect the next generation of building service professionals. Stay tuned for more #NextGen updates 👀 Find out more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/e5wXtfcq #BESA #BuildingServices #NextGen Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions Europe

Let's talk about Mentoring and Reverse Mentoring... The #BESANextGen Network are passionate about mentoring and reverse mentoring, and has been a discussion point for us during the #BESAAnnualConference. During our session we delved into mentoring and reverse mentoring, emphasising benefits for employers and individuals, and the impact it has on young professionals, fostering inclusive workplaces and driving personal and organisational growth. But first let's break down the meaning of Mentoring and Reverse Mentoring... ➡️Mentoring is about fostering relationships that help younger professionals navigate their roles, expand their networks, and gain confidence in their abilities. A mentor acts as a trusted advisor, offering advice based on their own experiences, helping mentees set and achieve career goals, and providing a fresh perspective on challenges or opportunities in the workplace. It’s a powerful way to share knowledge, build skills, and provide guidance through the challenges of career development. ⬅️Reverse mentoring is an innovative approach, flipping the traditional mentoring model, where younger or less experienced professionals’ mentor senior colleagues. It’s a two-way learning exchange that allows senior leaders to gain fresh perspectives on emerging trends, technology, and modern workplace dynamics, while younger mentors gain valuable insights into leadership and strategic thinking. Unlike traditional mentoring, it creates a two-way exchange of knowledge, allowing both mentor and mentee to learn from each other.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2024 | BIGGER, BETTER, BESA Last week we hosted #BESAAnnualConference welcoming over 300 guests to The Brewery on Chiswell Street, watch below as Membership Director, Rebecca Fox takes us through the #BESAnnualConference 2024 We kicked off the day with award winning investigative journalist, Peter Apps, who raised concerns about combustible cladding and high-rise buildings before the #GrenfellTower fire. During his keynote he described the #BuildingSafetyAct as “unwieldy” and said there were widespread reports of projects being held up by new planning restrictions. As well as two theatres we had a Skill Zone, an area dedicated to supporting skills and training, which will feature a new theatre area and exhibitor space. We are excited to share that we have been awarded the BESA Group industry award for competence and compliance! This is a huge success for us and outlines the work we've provided to the industry over the past year. The judges stated that we were awarded this on behalf of our proficient dedication to excellence within strict industry standards, as well as also being impressed by our strong prior accreditations, extensive staff training as well as our long term commitment to apprenticeships. Above all, we'd like to thank our engineers and admin staff for their long term consistency and diligence, and for always showing up and getting the job done to extremely high standards. Without their collaboration, this achievement would not be possible. We look forward to what next year holds for us and ensure that we'll maintain our servicing quality in hopes of being nominated again in 2025!

I had the honor of speaking at the BESA National Conference on behalf of the NextGen group, sharing insights on the importance of mentoring and reverse mentoring in today's organisations. We explored why these practices are crucial for personal and professional growth, along with tips for making mentoring relationships more effective and impactful. Mentoring isn't just about sharing knowledge; it's about fostering mutual growth and opening doors to new perspectives. Reverse mentoring, in particular, offers fresh opportunities for learning across different generations, helping us all navigate our careers more strategically. A huge thank you to HE Simm for supporting me in this endeavor and to BESA Group for providing such an amazing platform. It’s opportunities like these that truly shape our careers and enable us to give back to the industry.

BESA Annual Conference 2024! Always great to catch up with friends and colleagues! This year, I had the opportunity to contribute to an important conversation on the transition to flammable refrigerants in the RACHP sector - an area of increased considerations but nothing the industry can’t handle! It was also inspiring to see the continued growth of the BESA NextGen Network, with many talented members contributing throughout the day, and on panel sessions.
