Yesterday we launched Epic, our new electronic health record system at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Epic brings together hundreds of different systems from across our hospitals and community services into one electronic system, giving staff a complete overview of a person’s care, and freeing up more time to spend on patient care. This is the largest single go-live of the Epic system anywhere in the world, and the new system will support staff across both Trusts to bring about major improvements to the way they deliver care. Apollo is our name for an ambitious programme to introduce Epic (a leading electronic patient records system) across Guy’s and St Thomas’ and at King's College Hospital. Epic is due to launch on 5 October 2023. It will transform the way that we work by replacing our historic IT systems and paper records. It will allow everyone involved in a patient's care to have access to all their records, whether in hospital, in a community clinic, or at home. 🚀 Lift off! Epic is live. This morning at 6.15am, we officially went live with our new Epic electronic health record system at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Synnovis, our shared pathology provider, also went live with Epic at the same time. This is a hugely significant moment, and is the culmination of an incredible amount of work by colleagues over the past few weeks, months and years. Thank you all for everything you have done. Please refer back to your go-live guides, read the latest updates on your intranet, including what to do if you have any problems logging in, and ask our Digital Champions and Floor Walkers if you need more help. There are just 7 days to go before we switch on our #Epic electronic health record system on 5 October at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Look out for daily Epic updates in your inbox to make sure you have all the information you need before, during, and after go-live. Check if you are #ReadyForEpic: 1. Have you completed your training and checked you can access Epic? This includes completing your ‘Log-in lab’ and ‘EUPA’ assessment. 2. Is your area ‘Epic-ready?’ Ensure any new IT equipment is charged and in place, ready to use. 3. Have you read the go-live guide and do you know where to get go-live support from? Make sure you know how to get help if you need it. There are now just 10 days to go until we go live with Epic, our new electronic health record system. There is a huge amount of work going on right across Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to get us ready for 5 October when we switch the new system on. This weekend, we reached another significant milestone with the start of ‘soft-live’, which describes the period leading up to go-live when we focus on entering administrative data into the new system. I’d like to say a big thank you to all those involved in getting us to this point and to those colleagues, including many of our admin teams, who gave up their weekends to start this important work which will help ensure that our patient data is accurate, up-to-date and accessible at go-live. With everyone working so hard to get us ready, it’s important to take a moment to remember why we are doing this. While go-live may feel hard, Epic is going to transform the way we provide care to our patients and make things so much easier for you all. This week at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust we held Apollo roadshows to give staff an opportunity to take a closer look at Epic, find out more about MyChart (our new app for patients), and to test out some of the technology that will sit alongside Epic.
