Great to see these 3 concrete proposals from EDF (UK); the challenge will be figuring out how these - and other, potentially more immediate actions - can be brought to bear quickly enough to tackle the huge scale of energy debt across UK homes and help bill payers to avoid seeing their individual debt as something they lose any hope of being able to manage.

I mean could there be a more timely example to support why we built Habeo. 1. We must reduce household carbon emissions by at least 50% in the next 5 years if we want to stay on track for net zero by 2050 2. Report outlines risks to grid decarbonisation Electric vehicle (EV) smart charging firm ev.energy has published its latest report, outlining how the grid currently doesn’t align with the energy and transport sector’s vision of the future of EV power. The report, called ‘Metering Matters: Unlocking Electric Vehicle Charging Flexibility Through the Asset Meter‘, outlined how current grid management, policy, and market designs do not align with the two industries vision for the future power of EVs. Its analysis of EVs in alleviating demand stress on the power grid underscored the urgent need to reassess existing metering standards to prevent strain on power infrastructure, risking our decarbonisation goals. Fourth on the AFP’s ‘easy wins list’ for the new government is a push on vehicle-to-grid (V2G) battery storage, which has huge potential for the future in terms of grid decarbonisation and could also provide a boost to new and used EV sales as consumers become aware of the possibilities and benefits. EVs are big batteries on wheels and have a huge potential future part to play in making wider use of renewables more practical. However, while V2G is currently possible, it is something that has yet to enter the mainstream, even though there are now a million EVs on UK roads. We’d like to see clear government policy that is designed to promote V2G, spreading awareness of the concept among both new and used EV buyers, and the general public in a wider sense. Especially, we’d like to see clarification of where and when this type of battery storage can be used and for which applications.
