Do not let yourself get to the stage where you are emotionally drained! Self-care should not be a reaction to a physical or mental situation, it is an ongoing daily activity just like brushing your teeth. You wouldn't leave the house without brushing your teeth, so apply the same care and attention to your daily self-care routine, before you become emotionally drained. It starts with looking after your mind first!

Coaching and mentoring are NOT the things that drive culture change. Being open to coaching and being coachable, then applying what you learn to your own job/company/life is the thing that drives the change.

According to many Gallup Survey results, the no 1 reason for teams not engaging, is because they don't feel connected to the mission and purpose of the company they are working for. This shows everyone wants to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Plus people also want to feel valued and appreciated as individuals. This could be easily achieved with the following steps: - Bring people together for a bigger purpose (e.g. of the company in the world) - Value them for who they are as individuals and as a team. Listen to them and make them feel heard. - Show appreciation in small, human ways as well as big celebrations It is only then you'll get the best out of people and the teams.

Your mind/body needs stress to perform, however, undue stress is what causes anxiety and if not dealt with for a long time, illness. Stress mentioned here is an emotional response to situations as a result of your interpretation of a particular situation. These are triggered/caused by your thoughts, which are preceded by your beliefs (about yourself and the world). 3 key things I can suggest to best deal with work stress are: - Know your value (self-worth), because when you value yourself you'll do what is right by you first (self-care, setting boundaries etc.) - Have a clear vision and purpose (know how your job is helping you serve your purpose, ignore the rest) - Remember, you are where your attention is. Keep it where you want to be!

Most people think re-framing your thoughts is a good idea! Like somehow, if you just take a negative thought and turn it into a positive one, it'll all be fine. I now know that is total BS! If you continue believing that you can just simply re-frame your way to success then I'd hate to say you're mistaken. I get it though as I used to think the same until I realized that re-framing your unhelpful thoughts is like taking a picture you hate and swapping the frame around it with a gold one. It doesn't change anything except the crappy frame! So it is not a matter of re-framing thoughts, but a matter of changing your thoughts and shifting the perspectives that CREATED those thoughts in the first place! It's about changing the CONTEXT.

The easiest way to overcome fear and anxiety is to recognise where both come from in the first place. Fear comes from the memory of the past. We often fear things that may have happened in the past and think they will happen again, even though the situation may be different, your brain makes associations and puts you in fear. Anxiety, on the other hand, comes from future pacing and making up scenarios that are not true. It is mostly based on our past experiences or lack of them (and the fear this already brings). Knowing this, the best way to overcome both is to focus on NOW, not the past or the future. Make gratitude a daily habit to allow your brain to focus on what you ALREADY have now and soon you'll eliminate fear and anxiety.
