It seems like Everton is in a bit of a mess at the moment, highlighting the importance of appointing the right intermediaries when seeking investors for acquisition. The first rule for intermediaries is to be open, honest and transparent from the offset. It's crucial to have a robust long term investment plan for the club that aligns with the values of the club, its fanbase and the city, and then find the right buyer. Getting the basics in place is always a good start, and don't underestimate the little guys who can make things happen for a lot less. This is an iconic deal in the landscape of English cricket and possibly world cricket. GMR Group and Hampshire County Cricket Club and its assets, currently owned by Rod Bransgrove, have agreed to an aquistion! Rod has been such a huge contributor to the game in the UK. I personally think this deal will be the catalyst to opening the gates to further Indian investment into English cricket (not new news) which points towards a bigger holistic future of players being centrally contracted by franchises (not countries). English football continues to see strong deal flow at all levels, with three deals announced across non-league in the past week: ⚽ North Sixth Group announced it has agreed a deal in principal to acquire Dagenham & Redbridge FC. ⚽ A group of local businessmen, subject to creditor approval, acquired Torquay United, following a period of financial difficulty. ⚽ The Ogden family completed a reported £2m acquisition of Rochdale FC.   Some takeaways: 📈 Following the recent rise of Wrexham and Stockport to EFL League One, who were playing each other in the National League as recently as 2022, investors continue to seek returns via a rise through the divisions. ✍ It is however paramount that investors critically appraise the financial sustainability of their business plans across various sporting scenarios given the unpredictably and evident challenge in gaining promotion from the National League in particular.   🔎 Consideration of the wider governance, regulatory and (limited) commercial / media rights landscape is also critical during a period of diligence prior to acquisition of clubs at this level.

This was such a massive risk to take as a company, one we toiled over for years, always combing through the many pro's and con's of hitting go. Ultimately though, our target market would always buy an S&C programming software before us (especially in the US), so we had to seriously consider it. New Post: Manchester City’s Champions League failure may mean a new-look squad is needed to get back to the top - https://lnkd.in/e69EF3g5 Manchester City are out of the UEFA Champions League after Real Madrid beat the reigning title holders 4-3 on penalties in Wednesday's quarterfinal second leg. Pep Guardiola's side drew 1-1 on the night which meant extra time as last week's 3-3 draw made it 4-4 on aggregate but the Premier League giants could not find a winning goal. Instead, Carlo Ancelotti's men triumphed from the spot to set up a semifinal against Bayern Munich for a place in the final against Paris Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund.What comes next for City is going to be very interesting given that a repeat of their 2023 treble was possible until Antonio Rudiger successfully converted his spot kick for Los Blancos and failure to match that feat inevitably brings a period of reflection. On the face of it, there is not much to be ashamed of in going out to serial UCL winners Real on penalties but it does make any potential success for the remainder of this season less of an achievement when directly compared with what came before it.Guardiola and City were always going to struggle to replicate the importance of their first-ever Champions League title but defending their treble did feel doable up until their exit here. For the EPL leaders, domestic glory might not taste the same as continental success given their incredible form over the past year or so in Europe which was expected to continue here. Now that it has been denied, they must look at what went wrong and which areas can be improved of which there are a few despite what had initially appeared to be the best squad in the competition.First and foremost, does Guardiola have the hunger to go again at Etihad Stadium with a rebuild necessary if City are realistically going to challenge again for UCL honors? The Catalan tactician might need a few weeks to answer that with Premier League and FA Cup silverware not necessarily enough to convince Guardiola of an instant return to European success. Given links with international management, the FIFA 2026 World Cup on the horizon and the need to change a number of these players, he could actually decide that he has done as much as he can in Manchester. If Guardiola does decide to attempt to rebuild this City side, there are also major question marks over who he looks to rebuild with. Kevin De Bruyne is not getting any younger and has increasing injury and fitness problems, while Kyle Walker is also getting on and came close to leaving last year.
