Teaching is undoubtedly one of the most demanding professions, requiring ongoing dedication and a focus on others. During term time we can at times often overlook the importance of rest. Even though some staff will do work during the holidays, it does allow us to have a change of pace and routine which is important for us all as adequate rest plays a pivotal role in our success as teachers. Ultimately, by prioritising rest and self-care, we can not only improve our wellbeing but also enhance our effectiveness at work, leading to better outcomes for both staff and students alike. I encourage staff to find time and even force themselves to make time during the holidays to rest, get outside, do something different and spend time with others.   The Bible also talks about rest and where we should find it. “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.” (Psalm 62:1)   Some practical ways to think about finding rest:   ·        Removing Distractions: In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to become overwhelmed by various distractions. Identifying these distractions and taking steps to limit or remove them from our lives can create space for rest. ·        Doing different things: We can get stuck in a busy routine and doing some different things can allow us to find rest. ·        Get outside and get active: Nature has an amazing way of helping us relax and find rest. Exercise is also proven to be an effective way of improving wellbeing and sleep. ·        Prayer: Through prayer, we can share our burdens, seek guidance, and find solace in the presence of God. ·        Reading God's Word: The Bible serves as a timeless source of wisdom, comfort, and inspiration. ·        Reading (in general): Reading is a great way to find rest and think about other things, especially if you can take time to read books that are unrelated to work. ·        Practicing Thankfulness: Recognising and appreciating God's goodness in our lives brings peace and contentment. ·        Being Still: In the midst of a busy life, finding moments of stillness is crucial for connecting with God on a deeper level. #teacherlife #holidayrest #recharge #lovelearning #educationleadership
