Having spent 14 out of my 19 years in iGaming working with Sportsbooks, I often engage in discussions with Operators on what are the most important points in order to maximise the success of a sportsbook ⚽📈 A lot has changed over the past 20 years in how sportsbooks are being managed, but in my opinion, these are the core principles to optimise your operations and drive great profitability: ◾ Data-Driven Insights I think this is a given, and not just for sportsbook. Without the right data, you cannot take the right decisions, especially when you have to price matches based on risk. ◾ Dynamic Odds Management This is a balancing act. On one hand you want to be competitive and within the market with your odds, on the other hand you need to keep an eye out for the accumulating risk. Experience plays a huge part here in setting up the right strategies. ◾ Personalized Promotions Who doesn't like a good promotion nowadays? These can include exclusive bonuses, free bets or VIP rewards which can help you attract and retain customers. But beware of bonus hunters! ◾ Mobile Optimisation It's a given now that mobile is an extremely important betting channel and the saying 'mobile first' is more important than ever to give the user the best possible experience. ◾ Comprehensive Risk Management The big one: without good risk management you risk big losses. Betting limits and monitoring suspicious and fraudulent activity are critical to protect yourself. The rise of the SBC events has been a true pleasure to experience. I was at the first ever Sports Betting Community gathering at a lowly pub in Hoxton - I believe back in 2010 (maybe Ras can confirm the exact date!). This week, I have regaled how that first gathering resembled, somewhat aptly, an AA meeting - about 10 of us sat a bit awkwardly in a circle of chairs in a typical east end boozer talking sports betting shop. It definitely pre-dated the notion of memorialising pub visits in camera phone libraries, so here is a stock image to give you an idea, minus bad fashion. The scale that the events have now reached since that first gathering of industry mates is staggering. The Lisbon show this week has been enormous with a reported 25,000 attendees and a colossal exhibition floorplan. Apparently this is amongst the most number of visitors this city has ever had. I remember when Rasmus Sojmark and I first discussed how great it would be for there to be a community for those involved in sports betting - at the time, conferences were - and to a great extent remain - casino focused. Of course, the SBC Summit is very much inclusive of gaming, but Ras… you’ve bloody well delivered on that mission buddy. Now trying to recall who else was at that very first pub session… the depths of my mind say George Voyatzis, Pierluigi Buccioli, Sam Williams and Ted Menmuir were there. Who else? #SBCSummit

Our Q2 integrity report is now available. We reported 90 incidents of suspicious betting in 8 sports, across 25 countries around the world. Three key findings below: 1. Three sports (eSports, football, table tennis) accounted for 84% of all alerts in Q2; 2. eSports provided over 50% of the Q2 total (48 alerts); however, the majority of those alerts concern a single linked case; 3. The 19 alerts on sporting events in Europe in Q2 2024 is an increase of 15 on the 4 alerts in Q1, but a decrease on the 31 cases in Q2 2023. See below to learn more
